Brodock Press Installs Komori S40

Press release from the issuing company

Rolling Meadows, IL, September 24, 2008– Komori America Corporation, a premier manufacturer of sheetfed and web offset printing presses, today announced that Brodock Press, Utica, NY, recently installed an eight-color Lithrone S40 (LS840) to enhance its print offerings with an even higher quality and more competitive pricing. The investment is a big change for the company's plant, which formerly operated with all Heidelberg presses. Founded in 1962, Brodock Press specializes in commercial sheetfed printing, and has developed a special niche in the high-end color markets. The company, which employs GRACol 7 Standards throughout its operation, serves clients in the pharmaceutical, academic, advertising, fashion, and cosmetics industries. It chose the Lithrone S40 because its advanced automation makes it easy to readily produce the highly detailed applications its customers require.

Brodock's first Komori press was purchased after an analysis of the printing market with particular focus on print quality. It will replace a Heidelberg on the floor. "You do a disservice to your own business if you neglect to survey the current market from time to time. We were not looking for second best, we wanted the best for our operation," said Doug Herter, vice president of technical operations for Brodock Press. When the Brodock team began their initial investigation, they visited some of the Komori printing sites. "We were very impressed by the remarkable print quality and the overall ease of operation we observed with the Komori presses."

The company reports the LS840 is extremely operator-friendly, featuring a centralized touch panel control system. "We love the color options, the speed, and the automation," Herter said.

"Everything about the press and its full-scope operator control panel is closed loop, which makes it so much easier to get quality output. There is virtually no troubleshooting because the control panel gives you immediate feedback and suggests the proper solution. With a touch of a button, you can get up to color in 15 minutes."

"We are pleased to welcome Brodock Press into our circle of very satisfied customers," said Ken Sabol, vice president of sales for Komori's Eastern Region. "The LS840 is an excellent choice to meet Brodock's impressive standards and the demands of its high-end market."
