Press release from the issuing company

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov. 7- Oak Technology, a leading provider of embedded solutions for optical-storage and digital-imaging markets, today announced that its IPS/5E language emulation and PCL 5e customized print drivers are featured in the Heidelberg Digimaster 9110 Network Imaging System. This device includes a print engine that can be used for duplication, network publication printing and printing transactional documents. Oak Technology's IPS/5E interpreter provides a complete PCL 5 high-quality printing solution for monochrome printer and multifunction peripherals, enables OEMs to develop high-quality peripherals that support the PCL 5e printer control language as implemented by Hewlett-Packard and boasts flexibility through access to full source code. Oak also provided PCL 5e print drivers for Microsoft Windows 95/98, NT 4.0 and 2000. These drivers allow users to print from any Microsoft Windows application. Heidelberg's Digimaster 9110 prints at 110 pages per minute with superlative image quality, robust paper handling capabilities, and an open architecture that is easily integrated into networks. It prints stored document or image files, scanned hard copy and data print streams. "Heidelberg selected Oak's IPS/5E for its ability to meet the high performance requirements of demanding 110-page per minute production printing,'' said Kevin Andresen, product marketing manager, Oak Technology's Imaging Group. "We're pleased to provide solutions that easily meet the expectations of high-end production printer manufacturers.'' "In addition to performance, we selected Oak's IPS/5E page description language largely because it is fully compatible with Hewlett-Packard's PCL standard,'' said James Bodine, Program Manager, Heidelberg Digital. He elaborated, "It is clear that Oak continues to invest heavily in the advancement of their languages.'' Manufacturers and partners who have integrated Oak Technology's printer and multifunction technology include Canon, Hewlett-Packard, Ricoh, Sharp, Toshiba TEC and Xerox.
