Scitex Selects eMation Device Relationship Management Solution

Press release from the issuing company

MANSFIELD, Mass.--Nov. 7, 2001--eMation, a pioneer of Device Relationship Management (DRM) enterprise software solutions, today announced an agreement with Scitex Digital Printing, Inc., the leading worldwide supplier of ultra-high speed digital printing solutions, to service-enable the Scitex VersaMark(TM) Printing System family of variable data, high-speed inkjet printers. The solution will provide field services personnel with the visual tools that will allow them to observe and control deployed printers so they can be remotely managed, monitored, serviced and supported through the Internet. "Implementing eMation's Device Relationship Management system is an important piece of our strategic support philosophy,'' said John Forsyth, vice president of Global Customer Service. "While we believe this product is a critical addition for our field service operation, what was more important for us was how well it would increase customer satisfaction. We found the eMation DRM Device Relationship Management system to be the most comprehensive solution available to support proactive and preventive repair, maintenance and consumables re-supply.'' "This collaboration marks a significant step forward in improving field service capabilities within the digital printing and office imaging segments,'' said Dale Calder, CEO and president of eMation. "Scitex has been a visionary player in the digital printing arena, and we look forward to working with their team to assist in the achievement of their goals of improved personnel productivity and equipment uptime.'' The eMation DRM(TM) solution will enable Scitex to improve the level of support for their field service personnel through the access of real-time printer information. By deploying eMation DRM, field personnel will be able to continuously monitor deployed devices, receiving proactive notification of errors and potential failures, and facilitating diagnosis and remote service functions such as calibration, repairs and complete software upgrades. "The eMation DRM solution is capable of removing one of the toughest obstacles in improving service organizations' productivity,'' stated Brian Bissett, editor of The MFP Report. "Many attempts have been made in the printer and copier industries to optimize the delivery of service while cutting costs. Unfortunately, technology andbusiness obstacles have continued to stand in the way. The eMation Firewall-Friendly solution is now helping create an environment where companies like Scitex can leverage existing networks in order to improve the quality of service while reducing costs.'' Scitex VersaMark printers are able to print at speeds of 750 feet per minute, and can produce completely bound 360-page book in less than 8 seconds. Scitex high speed inkjet printing systems utilize continuous inkjet printing - a technology which involves shooting a fine stream of ink that breaks into predictable size droplets which can then be individually deflected by an electrical current onto a substrate. The primary advantages of continuous inkjet are: extremely high speeds and the ability to print in a wide range of physical environments on many substrates. This technology is used for printing books, magazines and direct mail items, while allowing 100% customization for personalization, database marketing, direct mail, billing and statement printing and for lottery and gaming tickets.
