GAMIS Quarterly Meeting Focusing on Market Future

Press release from the issuing company

ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA (October 25, 2001) – A lineup of forward-thinking industry leaders with solid visions of what future print markets hold will be featured speakers at the Graphic Arts Market Information Service (GAMIS) Quarterly Meeting, December 5-7 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Washington, D.C. Featured speakers include John Zarwan of State Street Consultants, Boston, Massachusetts, and Robert Fitzpatrick of Eagle Consulting, Charlotte, North Carolina, to name two. Exclusive to GAMIS members is Zarwan’s Wednesday morning presentation on the most recently conducted survey: The Future of Package Printing. "It’s going to be a fairly high level summary," said Zarwan, State Street’s principal. "It reveals the size of the [packaging] market, its future and why it is important to the graphic arts industry. Packaging has frequently been viewed as a tremendous growth opportunity for print markets." The study, titled Package Printing 2001-2005, focused on corrugated, flexible packaging, folding cartons, and labels. Recently distributed to those participating in the study, the more than 400 page document will likely be available to non-GAMIS members after the new year. Fitzpatrick leads the Thursday luncheon presentation titled End of an Era: New Distribution Models. According to Fitzpatrick, there are numerous changes in the graphic arts supply-chain system lying ahead and those who work in that sector should become acquainted with the new terrain. "Suddenly distribution channels and costs have become a primary factor in marketing graphic arts materials. Understanding the new alignment is critical for future survival," said Fitzpatrick. In addition to the three days of valuable industry insight in seminars, study presentations, and committee meetings is the centerpiece holiday dinner and reception on Thursday, December 6. Other speakers address topics critical to the future of the graphic arts industry. Bill Davison, principal of Point Balance, Incorporated, of Harvard, Massachusetts, discusses Understanding the Digital Smart Factory. An exclusive to GAMIS members is the presentation, Digital Printing Market Potential by INTERQUEST’s Gilles Biscos, president, and Director David Davis. INTERQUEST is located in Charlottesville, Virginia. Friday, December 7, presentations include Binding and Finishing for Dummies with Roger Bilodeau, vice president of sales with Muller Martini Corporation, Hauppauge, New York, and a members only session on Advertising as a Driver of Print with Owen Jenkins, chief executive of Kadence Business Research.
