IBM Announces Visual Job Ticketing Application

Press release from the issuing company

ORLANDO, FL--Oct 29, 2001-- IBM today announced a new Professional Services offering that will provide visual job ticketing capabilities in a PDF workflow environment. IBM Visual Job Ticketing is an Adobe Acrobat plug-in that simplifies the tasks associated with setting up complex print jobs that are common to in-house print centers and reprographics shops. Visual Job Ticketing utilizes one easy-to-use graphical interface to set up jobs that can be sent to different devices, depending on the unique characteristics of the job. Based on XML, the application's open, device-independent job ticket format, eliminates the need for operators to interface with different job ticketing applications for each print device. In addition to reducing setup time by streamlining the job ticketing process, Visual Job Ticketing can also help reduce operator mistakes and minimize the training required to achieve tasks that are often more difficult when using other solutions, such as print drivers or job submission utilities. "Simply put, Visual Job Ticketing makes it easier for users to handle the complex task of efficiently managing large volumes of print jobs that possess diverse requirements," said Richard Troksa, Business Line Executive, Enterprise Output Solutions, IBM Printing Systems. "It not only streamlines the print process and decreases turnaround times for complex print jobs, but can also help bring control to potentially chaotic situations in print centers." IBM's Visual Job Ticketing solution delivers the following additional functionality: -Graphically defines document and page level attributes to capture document production intent -Provides visual cues of job ticket elements (plex, colors, tabs, finishing etc.) -Creates multiple job tickets to produce a single document in multiple ways -Provides paper choices that will be used by the Visual Job Ticketing application -Uses separate utility to organize or customize the paper catalog -Allows user to select print device -Specifies additional print-time attributes -Help users match print jobs to most appropriate printer to complete print job For a demonstration of Visual Job Ticketing, visit IBM at Xplor International's 22nd Global Electronic Document Systems Exhibit in Booth 101 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, October 30 through November 1.
