Wednesday, September 24, 2008

Press release from the issuing company

(September 23, 2008) K-North, Inc. is pleased to announce that Jones Packaging Inc. has placed an order for what is believed to be the largest capacity, multi coater 40” press in Canada.  The 13-unit Komori LS40 sheetfed press features nine printing units, two tower coaters, two drying units and the full complement of UV drying equipment - configured specifically for Jones Packaging.

The new Komori press comes with the highest level of automation available from Komori.  Some of these features include Komori’s fully Automatic Plate Loading system, PDC-S close-looped colour control, fully automatic press wash-up, KHS-AI High Speed Inking with Artificial Intelligence self-learning function, Inker declutch on all units and all of this on an 18-inch raised press.

Incorporated in 1920, Jones Packaging is a privately held, fourth generation controlled and managed family business.  The company began as a supplier to the Canadian pharmacy market and then grew to serve the needs of an expanding pharmaceutical and consumer packaged goods industries.  Jones focuses on building clients’ brand equity through packaging components of folding cartons, pressure sensitive labels, inserts, and full body shrink sleeves.

Today, from the company’s headquarters in London, Ontario and its state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in both London and Guelph, Jones Packaging provides packaging solutions to a world-wide long-term client base including many Global 500 companies in 32 states in the United States and 19 different countries in Europe and Middle East.  The company’s very strong customer focus is demonstrated through the creation of enhanced client performance methodology tools and processes addressing the key areas of packaging today - innovation, sustainability, least total cost and education.

Jones Packaging and Komori share the same environmental concerns going forward and the Komori press is certainly built with the environment in mind - from its blanket and roller washers that emit zero wash-up solvents to the KHS-AI inking that allows for less waste sheets being used on every job. The KHS-AI can prove to save up to one thousand trees per year through reduced waste alone.  Furthermore, the drying equipment features the highest level of UV technology with the lowest VOC emission rate.

The decision to purchase the highly equipped Komori press underscores Jones Packaging’s commitment to its customers to deliver the highest quality high end pharmaceutical and consumer brand packaging in the industry while continuing to be the leader in the preservation of the environment.

Komori Corporation, headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, is a premier manufacturer and worldwide distributor of offset sheetfed, web and specialty printing presses.  Based in Mississauga, Ontario, K-North, Inc. manages the sales and service of Komori products in Ontario and Western Canada.
