WILSONVILLE, Ore.--Oct. 15, 2001--Continuing its leadership in providing network office customers more value for less money, Xerox Corporation today launched the Phaser 5400 black-and-white laser printer, a fast 40 page-per-minute network printer that starts at an estimated retail price of $2,149.
Providing unsurpassed value to medium to large workgroups, the Phaser 5400 is 25 percent faster than the comparably priced Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 8150. In addition to fast print speeds, the Phaser 5400 has a powerful 266 MHz PowerPC processor and a first page out time of 9 seconds.
The Phaser 5400 also offers the best media handling in its class, supporting media weights up to 110 lb. cardstock and paper sizes up to 11" x 17''. Additional media handling features, such as duplexing and high-capacity paper tray options, are designed to satisfy demanding workgroups.
The Phaser 5400 includes CentreWare Web, an advanced enterprise-wide printer management tool that helps users install, configure and troubleshoot all printers on a network. It also comes with CentreWare IS, an embedded Web server that allows for remote printer management via any Web browser.
"This product extends Xerox's lead in delivering advanced printer capabilities with exceptional value,'' said Jim Miller, president, Xerox Office Printing Business. "The Phaser 5400 provides the speed, flexibility and network tools users need to process multiple jobs concurrently.''
The Phaser 5400 has a comprehensive feature set, including:
-- 32 MB of memory standard, up to 192 MB maximum.
-- Adobe PostScript 3, PCL 5e and PCL 6.
-- 650 pages input standard, 3,150 pages available with optional
-- 10/100 Base-Tx Ethernet, USB and parallel connectivity standard.
The Phaser 5400 is the second black-and-white laser printer to carry the Phaser brand name. It joins a broad family of Xerox network color and black-and-white printers, ranging from 12 to 45 pages per minute and designed to serve the needs of all networked offices. The Phaser 5400 comes with one-year onsite service and the Xerox Total Satisfaction Guarantee. In addition, Xerox offers toll-free customer support at 800-835-6100 and www.xerox.com/officeprinting.
