Agfa Secures Agreement As Exclusive Plate Supplier To The New York Times

Ridgefield Park, NJ - 8 October 2001 - Agfa announced the signing of an agreement with the newspaper division of the New York Times Company to be the exclusive supplier of digital-imaging plates for computer-to-plate (CTP) production for the paper's printing sites in New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts. Under the supervision and direction of The New York Times, a rigorous testing protocol was conducted which included the Agfa N91 plate against competitive products. On completion of the tests, the N91 proved superior in print quality, run length and production speed, surpassing the yields of all others. In accordance with the terms of the agreement, Agfa will provide the New York Times the N91 plate for the paper's printing facilities located in Edison, New Jersey; College Point, New York and also for The Boston Globe. Marc Kramer, senior vice president of production and labor relations at the New York Times said, "We chose Agfa because of the high performance of its products. They demonstrated that their plates result in the best print quality, while providing us with superior production efficiencies."
