FP Horak and Dow Corning Select Printable for Print Procurement Solution

Press release from the issuing company

SAN DIEGO, CA, October 1, 2001 – Printable Technologies, the leading online service provider for the graphic arts industry, announces today that it has finalized its agreement with The F.P. Horak Company to provide online services and applications for F.P. Horak and their key customers, including Dow Corning Corporation. Dow Corning uses the Printable applications as part of their enterprise-wide print supply chain management. "The team at Printable has made our transition from the Collabria system very easy," said Pamela Junge, Director, eBusiness with F.P. Horak. "We have customers, like Dow Corning, who use our system as an integral part of their supply-chain management for printed products, so the fact that we’ve been able to provide uninterrupted service and make the transition seamless has been extremely important." A former customer of Collabria, F.P. Horak was able to enjoy uninterrupted service when Printable acquired the core assets of Collabria in June. Since that time, Printable has completed its initial integration of Collabria's technologies. This makes Printable's entire suite of applications available to the former Collabria customers. These applications include significant functionality beyond what Collabria was offering, including web site creation and hosting, online preflighting and Printable's flagship Printer's Dashboard. "Companies like F.P. Horak and Dow Corning represent the future of printing and print procurement," said Chuck Gehman, Executive Vice President and CTO of Printable Technologies. "That’s why we’re so excited and fortunate to be working with them." In addition to the catalog and customizable print ordering that they now offer their clients, F.P. Horak plans to begin offering other Printable-provided technology, like PrintFlight for automated, online preflighting, and PrintProof for collaborative markup. "One of the greatest values to Dow Corning in working with F.P. Horak and Printable has been our responsiveness to customers—making it easier for them to get to the information they need the first time," said Ann Wisniewski, Global Manager for Communications Supply Chain of Dow Corning. "We look forward to the ability to offer even more efficiencies and functionality by way of Printable-hosted applications and services." Approximately 8000 worldwide Dow Corning employees create their own business stationary products, including personalized business cards, by using Printable's applications accessed through the company's own Intranet. In addition, through a Printable-created interface to Dow Corning's Documentum system, employees access a catalog of product literature and can order the materials online for printing in either the US or Europe.
