Digital Publishing Comes Into Focus At Seybold San Francisco 2001

Press release from the issuing company

LOS ANGELES--Oct. 2, 2001--Seybold San Francisco 2001 held at the Moscone Center, closed with a strong crowd of attendees dedicated to understanding and using the technology that allows them to create, manage and distribute content across multiple platforms. A struggling economy and a nation's mourning did not deter exhibitors, conference and expo attendees from evaluating new technology, learning from peers, sharing successes and failures, or identifying new business strategies and opportunities. Seybold San Francisco 2001, is a Key3Media Group, Inc. event. "The audience this year at Seybold is one of the best we have seen,'' said Mark Radogna, senior product manager, Epson. "We are having a great show.'' Seybold San Francisco 2001 provided a venue where over 250 companies such as Adobe Systems, Apple Computer, Canto Software and others made significant announcements regarding new or upgraded digital publishing products. "Seybold has always served as an ideal launching pad for EFI since introducing our original Fiery technology here ten years ago,'' said Guy Gecht, chief executive officer, Electronics for Imaging. "It is the perfect venue to reach out to new business partners and customers in the growing digital printing and publishing industry, and we are proud to return this year to showcase our latest Fiery innovations.'' A handful of exhibitors were unable to attend Seybold San Francisco 2001 due to disruption in travel and shipping on the East Coast, but the mood among the majority of companies and attendees was upbeat and positive. Several giant postcards addressed to the citizens of New York were filled with messages of sympathy, support and encouragement. They will be delivered to Mayor Rudolph Giuliani after the close of the event. "Because of the unprecedented events of September 11, the Seybold Community went into this week not knowing exactly what to expect,'' said Gene Gable, president of Seybold Seminars and Publications. "What we discovered was that people were ready to focus on work, to contribute to the economy and to share their thoughts and feelings with colleagues and friends from around the industry. I consider it one of our most successful events ever and we are extremely proud to have held our event as originally scheduled.'' Seybold Seminars also made an important announcement regarding its east-coast plans. The leading event for the publishing community is returning to New York in February of 2002 after three years in Boston. Seybold Seminars NY 2002 will take place at the Jacob Javits Convention Center, February 19 - 23. "Between San Francisco and New York, we are covering the largest possible number of publishing, design and communications professionals in the country,'' noted Gable.
