EFI Introduces Robust Variable Data Printing Solutions at Seybold

Press release from the issuing company

SAN FRANCISCO--Sept. 25, 2001--Electronics For Imaging, the world leader in providing hardware and software imaging solutions for networked printers and copiers, today demonstrated its robust, variable data printing (VDP) solutions on the new Fiery Z5(TM) and Z18(TM) platforms at Seybold SF. Using a customized approach and their latest RIP technology, which operates at top engine speeds, EFI allows customers to take full advantage of evolving VDP applications to maximize their productivity. EFI's VDP offering is open and flexible, emphasizing solutions to match all levels of sophistication. It includes a choice of Fiery-optimized authoring tools, end-to-end technology solutions, and access to turnkey consulting services. "One-to-one marketing in the print environment is possible today with our customized approach that addresses a full spectrum of customer needs and budgetary constraints,'' said Fred Rosenzweig, EFI President. "Our mission is to provide high-performance, economical VDP solutions, drawing on our technology leadership as well as incorporating the best components from others. The net benefit is the most robust and cost-effective set of solutions available on the market today.'' The VDP process requires software generators to aggregate data from a customer database along with other objects, such as graphic images and page layout files. EFI's Z5 and Z18 RIPs support Fiery FreeForm(TM) as well as Fiery-optimized versions of Atlas PrintShop Mail(TM) and Pageflex(TM) Persona(TM). Language support includes the more advanced Fiery FreeForm 2 and PPML, the emerging VDP industry standard. The new platforms are also compatible with legacy languages to ensure seamless integration into existing workflows. The Z18 controller functions at speeds that support the fastest available print engines in the 50-60 ppm class. When combined with EFI's Velocity(TM) Balance(TM) workflow software, both the Z5 and Z18 offer high productivity, multi-engine solutions for FreeForm variable data print jobs, splitting jobs to dramatically shorten completion time. Finally, EFI's Professional Services division offers a full range of consulting services from evaluation and installation to training. Web-based, on-site training or hands-on training courses are offered through the EFI Academy at various EFI locations. EFI's new variable data printing solutions can be seen in booth No. 1205 at the Seybold tradeshow in San Francisco. The Seybold Expo runs September 25-28, 2001, at the Moscone Center.
