R.R. Donnelley Expands Board, Elects 2 Directors

CHICAGO, Sept. 20 R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company has expanded its board of directors from 10 to 11 members. In addition, the company elected Gregory Q. Brown and Norman H. Wesley to fill the new position and an existing vacancy. "These seasoned leaders add depth to an already solid board,'' said William L. Davis, chairman, president and chief executive officer of R.R. Donnelley. "Their strengths in technology and consumer marketing will ensure our success in transforming our company and reaching our long-term goal of revolutionizing communications effectiveness.'' Since February 1999 Brown, 41, has served as chairman and chief executive officer of Micromuse, Inc., a San Francisco-based provider of network diagnostics and service-assurance software. His 20 years of high-tech experience includes leadership positions in the telecommunications, data networking, cable TV and computer software industries. These include positions as president of Ameritech Custom Business Services, president of Ameritech New Media Inc. and director of Americast, the video programming venture among Ameritech, The Walt Disney Company, GTE, Bell South and Southern New England Telephone. He also held a variety of sales and marketing positions with AT&T and IBM. Brown also was recently elected to the Board of Trustees of the Walter Kaitz Foundation, a national organization dedicated to achieving diversity within the cable/broadband industry. A resident of Long Grove, Ill., he holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, N.J. His term expires in 2003. Wesley, 52, is chairman and chief executive officer of Fortune Brands, Inc., the consumer products company with premier brands including Moen, Titleist, Jim Beam, Master Lock and Day-Timer. Prior to becoming chairman and CEO in December 1999, Wesley served as president and chief operating officer of the Lincolnshire, Ill.-based company. Previously, he led Fortune Brands' home & hardware and office products businesses. Wesley, whose term expires in 2003, fills the opening created by the retirement of George A. Lorch, who served as an R.R. Donnelley director for more than five years. A resident of Lake Forest, Ill., Wesley earned his undergraduate and MBA degrees from the University of Utah, Salt Lake City.
