Pitman Now a Dealer for EFI Velocity Workflow Software

Press release from the issuing company

Totowa, NJ and Foster City, CA – Sept. 18, 2001 – Pitman Company, North America's leading graphics arts supplier, today announced that it is now an authorized dealer of Electronics for Imaging's (NASDAQ: EFII) Velocity workflow software. The Velocity cluster printing software suite enhances print processes and makes digital document output more productive, powerful and easy to manage by controlling up to ten print engines with one simple user interface. Pitman intends to market and resell Velocity software to its customers, working directly with EFI. “Velocity software will be a powerful new addition to our product line, enabling our customers to maximize their investment in their equipment by clustering their jobs more efficiently and maximizing both output speeds and quality,” said Larry D'Amico, VP of Digital Imaging Sales, Pitman Company. “EFI understands the demanding needs of our graphics arts customers and we are pleased to offer this new software suite through our distribution channels.” Velocity software uses advanced functionality to control color, monochrome and variable data jobs on multiple digital engines. Residing on a server between workstations and EFI Fiery-driven products, Velocity Balance, the foundation software module, enables users to leverage the productivity of up to ten imaging engines through one easy-to-use, intuitive graphical interface. Long runs can be split between multiple printers, or multiple jobs can be routed and redirected, creating tremendous workflow efficiencies. Velocity software provides smart routing based on job ticket instructions, including engine speed, number of pages, number of sets, job size and engine status — even split printing mixed color and monochrome jobs to the appropriate devices. “EFI's Velocity workflow software offers enormous productivity and cost-saving advantages in multiple printer environments,” said Frank Mallozzi, VP of Sales, EFI. “We are proud that Pitman has selected Velocity software to enable their customers to maximize printing efficiency and quality.”
