Pitney Bowes Comments on Terror, Missing Facility Management Employees

Press release from the issuing company

According to a Statement from Pitney Bowes: This is our first update this week on our efforts relating to the September 11th terrorist event. I want to update our efforts on behalf of employees, customers, and the affected communities. Our Employees * With much sadness, we report that we have four PBMS employees who are confirmed to be missing. Our hearts and prayers go to them and their families. * Our Compassion Center in New York continues to operate and to support all Pitney Bowes New York employees, their families, and customers who request help. * We are grateful to have been able to confirm the safety of all other employees. Most of our stranded travelers have returned home and we are working to ensure that the remaining travelers get to their destinations as soon as possible. Our Customers * Pitney Bowes Management Services is specifically working with customers which have had their places of business destroyed or damaged. We are helping them set up new offices, by finding additional space for them, and helping them source equipment, supplies, and services. * We are also beginning a process to help all other customers reassess their mail and document management needs as a result of last week's tragedy. * I cannot emphasize enough that, when President Bush said that America must go back to business this week, he was inviting companies like ours to recognize how customers depend on us and how our brand attributes of trustworthiness, reliability, caring and financial strength are more important to them than ever. Focusing our business on supporting the mail and document management needs of organizations of all sizes contributes to the well-being of all our stakeholders. Our Communities * Corporate contributions have been made to the Salvation Army, the American Red Cross, and the September 11 Fund in response to this crisis. We will match employee contributions to these and other causes under our Matching Gifts program. * We are organizing blood drives and donations of food, supplies, and funds at a number of our facilities, and are making grants available to organizations to which employees volunteer under Dollars for Doers program. * Pitney Bowes Relief Fund Charitable Trust is also making additional contributions to organizations that support relief, efforts, and to the families of victims. * We appreciate your generosity, and have responded to your comments and questions.  We have also included more suggestions on the many ways in which you can continue to support your community on PB.com.
