NAPL Enhances Management Software, Computer-to-Plate Module Added to ProfitXL

Press release from the issuing company

CHICAGO, IL, September 6, 2001 – At PRINT 01 today, the National Association for Printing Leadership (NAPL) announced the launch of an enhanced version of ProfitXL, its popular financial management software. Designed to help printers understand the economic impact of implementing a computer-to-plate (CTP) system, NAPL’s new ProfitXL/CTP Printing Performance Management Suite incorporates cost-analysis and other pertinent data that demonstrate the potential bottom-line advantages of CTP printing equipment. I. Gregg Van Wert, NAPL’s president, says the ProfitXL/CTP package was developed in response to ongoing requests for information about the long-term benefits of computer-to-plate. "By giving printers an accurate picture of the impact of CTP on their business, it helps them assess the potential financial results," he explains. "ProfitXL/CTP is an extremely valuable tool for anyone considering an investment in CTP technology." In cooperation with Presstek, a leading developer of digital laser imaging and chemistry-free printing plate technologies, ProfitXL/CTP was developed at NAPL’s Management Institute, which created the original ProfitXL software two years ago. As part of NAPL’s mission to help printers succeed in today’s competitive environment, the newly enhanced software provides printing owners and managers with an instant, accurate snapshot of their company’s real-time financial health – and also helps them determine which pressroom equipment will best serve their goals. With the CTP cost-analysis model added to existing financial variables, which range from cash management and monthly sales data to breakeven analysis and capital investment, printers now have an even more valuable tool for the decision-making process. "The decision to move to CTP is a critical one, and requires careful evaluation as well as economic justification," points out Marc Johnson, Product Line Marketing Manager for Presstek, whose products and applications are centered around DI technologies for direct-to-press and CTP applications. "NAPL’s new ProfitXL/CTP software provides a quick, easy way for printers to see just how quickly a CTP solution can pay for itself and make a positive contribution to their bottom line." Through a special arrangement, Profit XL/CTP Printing Performance Suite software can be purchased from Presstek, as well as directly from NAPL.
