CHICAGO--Sept. 11, 2001-- Xerox Corporation and Electronics For Imaging, leaders in the printing solutions industry, today introduced a workflow management product that will increase productivity and flexibility within Xerox printing environments. The "DocuColor Cluster Powered by EFI Velocity(TM),'' is a powerful workflow software that manages multiple print engines through one intuitive user interface to allow printers to gain the maximum amount of productivity from their printing equipment. The DocuColor Cluster automatically divides large documents or large number of pages between multiple printers, reducing the time required to output a job. The DocuColor Cluster software is best suited for quick printers, commercial printers, universities and central reproduction departments (CRD) that currently have or are adding Xerox DocuColor printers with EFI servers. The DocuColor Cluster is available in both mid-range and production versions. "Fast-paced printing environments will embrace this new solution,'' said Gerhard Moll, senior vice president and general manager, Xerox Color Solutions Business Unit. "Customers with multiple DocuColor printers will appreciate the speed and productivity gained by balancing jobs while still achieving the high quality output for which the DocuColor platform is acclaimed. Together, EFI and Xerox have developed another winning combination for the printing marketplace.'' The mid-range DocuColor Cluster software is capable of driving up to three DocuColor 12 engines for the retail price of $15,390. The production version will drive any combination of three DocuColor printers: the DocuColor 12, DocuColor 30 and 40 printers and/or DocuColor 2045 and 2060 digital presses at a retail price of $25,875. The DocuColor Cluster Powered by EFI Velocity is being shown at the Xerox Booth 8805 at Print 01. "EFI's Velocity workflow software maximizes the throughput of Xerox's high volume DocuColor printers and presses, giving users increased productivity as well as a familiar and intuitive user interface,'' said Fred Rosenzweig, EFI president. "We are delighted Xerox has chosen key Velocity software components to power its new DocuColor Cluster product as it offers multi-engine environments a new performance booster for maximum printing efficiency.'' The DocuColor Cluster software Powered by Velocity will be available Nov. 1 through Xerox's direct sales force.
