Roland Introduces CX PRO Series Vinyl Cutters

Irvine, CA, September 6, 2001 Roland DGA Corporation – manufacturer of the world’s best-selling cutters – today announced a major price-performance breakthrough on a new line of cutters. Called the CX PRO, these state-of-the-art cutters feature industry-first enhancements, including the ability to feed media from the front and rear. “With the new CX PRO, professional sign makers can have it both ways,” said Thomas O’Reilly, Roland Product Manager. “While Roland’s new CX PRO cutters cost less, they are loaded with more features. The world’s best cutters just got even better.” Sign makers with limited space will appreciate the CX PRO’s ability to feed media from the front as well as the rear. It can also feed media backward for a specified page distance, then cut and feed the page forward. The CX PRO comes in three models – the 30-inch CX-300, 40-inch CX-400 and the 48-inch CX-500. Roland CutChoice™ sign-cutting software comes standard. “From cutting speed and accuracy to reliability, CX PRO cutters are the best in the business,” said Thomas. “Even when left unattended, banners and long graphics come out looking crisp and clean. When it comes to cutting vinyl, the CX PRO definitely offers the biggest bang for the buck.” Fast and Precise A digitally controlled servomotor, curve smoothing function and 32-bit RISC CPU provide exacting high-speed cutting, with a maximum cutting speed of 33 in/sec. Three standard cutting modes – normal, heavy and high – provide optimum versatility. For utmost agility and precision, the CX PRO cuts with a down force between 20 and 350 grams Reliable and Easy to Use Roland cutters are known worldwide for producing outstanding results year after year. A reliable tracking system on the CX PRO lets sign makers cut long signs and banners unattended. According to recent tests, the CX PRO will keep vinyl lined up straight for 82 feet. The CX PRO includes both USB and parallel connectivity. The new, easy-to-use front panel includes buttons for frequently used settings such as blade force, cutting speed and origin point. The CX Series stores cutting conditions for up to eight pre-set jobs, including cutting speed, blade compensation, blade force, tool movement speed during tool-up and cutting mode. It will also re-cut the previous job at the push of a button. The software lets users cut enlarged images as crisp as original size, cut TrueType fonts without outlining and preview multi-colored images by color. It even creates overlays by selecting individual colors for cutting. Roland CutChoice is compatible with Adobe Illustrator 8.0/9.0 or CorelDraw 8.0/9.0/10.0 on Windows 98/Me and 2000, and Adobe Illustrator 8.0/9.0 on Mac OS 8.6-9x.
