T/R Systems Launches MicroPress X Series

Press release from the issuing company

CHICAGO---Sept. 10, 2001-- T/R SYSTEMS, INC., a leader in developing innovative solutions for the management and production of digital documents, announced today a new MicroPress product family - the MicroPress X Series. The new members of the MicroPress family, the MicroPress SX(TM), the MicroPress DX(TM) and the MicroPress MX(TM), make the powerful benefits of the MicroPress accessible to a broader range of print-on-demand customers. The MicroPress is a document production server for print-on-demand customers that bridges the gap between low-volume workgroup printing and high-volume centralized printing. By combining powerful document "make-ready'' capabilities with advanced workflow tools, sophisticated color management and unique print device connectivity options, the MicroPress provides customers with a scalable production printing system. "The new MicroPress X Series is the result of in-depth research into the needs of printing organizations around the world,'' said Mike Kohlsdorf, President and CEO of T/R Systems. "Through advanced software engineering, we've been able to take extensive feature sets from the MicroPress and scale them to the cost and functionality needs of the broad mid and lower range of the print-on-demand market. We believe this new family is going to be revolutionary for the mid market in terms of overall capabilities, ease of use and return on investment.'' The MicroPress SX is designed for organizations that require a high level of functionality from one or more print devices. The MicroPress SX helps to maximize an organization's equipment investment by ensuring that connected black-and-white and/or color devices are driven at fully rated speed while providing extensive control and device status information. The MicroPress SX includes many of the powerful software make-ready features inherent in the MicroPress and allows organizations to cost-effectively connect up to four devices as their business requirements justify that capacity. The MicroPress DX is designed for organizations that are looking to cluster two to four black-and-white and/or color print devices to achieve new levels of productivity . The MicroPress DX features TRueCluster(TM) technology, which splits large jobs across multiple print devices for maximum throughput. In addition, the MicroPress DX provides extensive make-ready features and is built to be expandable so an organization can start with just two print devices and easily and cost-effectively add print devices without having to invest in additional computing power. The MicroPress MX is designed for organizations whose printing operation is mission-critical. Built with RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) and dual power supplies, this robust solution provides real-time data recovery with uninterrupted throughput, offers increased system uptime and protects against data loss. Additionally, the MicroPress MX utilizes TRueCluster technology and is scalable, supporting up to 12 clustered print devices. The MicroPress X Series features powerful new hardware platforms to satisfy the needs of demanding production environments. Additional information on specific hardware configurations will be available through T/R Systems and its distribution partners in the near future. The MicroPress X Series is expected to be available through T/R Systems' distribution channels in the Fall.
