CHICAGO, IL -- Rising to the challenge set forth by its customers, A.B.Dick Company has devised new technologies for the small and medium format printer. The E-Ink and DI-Stat systems, designed to work in conjunction with and make more efficient use of the latest technology laden equipment, will be demonstrated in the A.B.Dick booth (#3329) during the Print 01 show, September 6-13 at McCormick Place in Chicago. "Throughout our history, we have helped customers grow their business by developing products which take them to the next level," said Stu Gallup, Director of Digital Systems Marketing and Product Planning. "The guiding principles we use center around reliability of the equipment and its functions, the affordability factor of what it will take and how much work it can involve, and the ease of use. The E-Ink and DI-Stat systems follow this same formula. That's why we think they will be successfully received in the marketplace." E-Ink is used with the new A.B.Dick QP25 offset press and the top selling DPM2340. It is the first ink system that allows an operator to manually set the ink keys accurately on a non-automated ink fountain. Relying on the patented features found with the QP25's calibrated ink fountain, E-Ink analyzes the digital data used to create the plate at the DPM. The system generates a printout that identifies the proper ink key setting for each zone of the print job. Working in tandem with the ScanMaster digital scanning solution and a new printer using thermal ribbon technology to image on polyester plates, DI-Stat will produce low cost one and two-color plates from hard copy originals or from digital files. Designed to replace electrostatic platemakers for short run one and two-color work, DI-Stat's use of a thermal ribbon eliminates the problems associated with toner. It does not create a mess or leave fingerprints on the plates, and it requires no special fountain solution. ScanMaster is available on all DPM's and the A.B.Dick Colour digital press.
