Oce Unveils Breakthrough Digital Color Printing Technology

Press release from the issuing company

Chicago, IL, September 7, 2001 - Oce, a global leader in digital document management and delivery technology, announced the release in the US of the Oce CPS700 Color Printer that utilizes a dramatic new color imaging process developed by Oce. The announcement was made today at the Print '01 trade show being held at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. The Oce CPS700 Color Production System utilizes Oce's patented Direct Imaging technology that creates a complete toner image from seven base color cylinders and applies it directly onto one imaging drum in a single step without the use of developer. Colors are not laid on top of each other but are applied in one pass, reducing the amount of toner used by up to 50 percent and minimizing the risk of registration errors. The Direct Imaging technology is not affected by changes in humidity or temperature, increasing reliability and eliminating the need for constant recalibration, resulting in less downtime and higher user productivity. It also ensures that the color quality of the 10,000th print in a production run will be as crisp and rich as the first print. Oce Color Copy Press technology then presses the toner into the paper, creating prints that are free of image flaking or cracking. With a low fusing temperature, the process eliminates paper curling produced by most other printers. And because of its one-pass, shorter paper path, the system virtually eliminates time-consuming paper jams, even with double-sided printing. The Oce CPS700 specializes in short-runs, allowing businesses to print smaller quantities of materials cost effectively, and reducing the waste associated with large runs and obsolete materials. It is recommended for environments that produce 30,000 to 100,000 color prints per month. According to Giovanni Pelizzari, President and CEO of Oce-USA, Inc., "After extensive research, Oce has developed the next generation in color printing that addresses the problems inherent in machines currently on the market. Using revolutionary new technology, the Oce CPS700 is more reliable, produces higher quality output, and is more cost effective - delivering bottom-line business benefits to the color printing industry."
