Presstek Announces Enhanced Server Options

Press release from the issuing company

CHICAGO, September 6, 2001- Presstek, Inc. today announces that two additional options: TrapWorks and ProofReady, have been added to the Presstek Server. Presstek (booth # 5742) is showcasing the new options at the PRINT 01 trade show being held September 6-13 at Chicago’s McCormick Place. TrapWorks TrapWorks is an automatic in-RIP trapping solution available as an option for the Presstek DI-RIP. It is object based, with user-definable PostScriptLanguage Level 3 features, including full user control over traps generated (width, color, threshold). TrapWorks is designed to automatically trap jobs in the background without any manual intervention. Trapping parameters can be saved to provide consistent trapping for each individual job. ProofReady ProofReady is an optional plug-in that allows selected Epson and HP inkjet printers to be driven directly by the Presstek DIÒ -RIP. To ensure predictable output, ProofReady uses the same RIP to generate both proofs and plates. ProofReady comes with a variety of pre-configured color profiles, including ICC profiles for many conventional proofing systems. Color management is supported through the Harlequin ICC Profile Processor (HIPP). Profiles can be generated from third party packages and imported to provide extremely accurate and automatic color matching. Marc Johnson, Presstek’s Product Line Marketing Manager for Off-Press Imaging Systems states, "The addition of these two options further demonstrates our commitment to the smaller commercial printer who is building a digital workflow. TrapWorks is a powerful tool that quickly automates trapping at the RIP, while ProofReady brings together reliable single-RIP digital proofing and affordable high-quality inkjet printers."
