Heidelberg Software: DataXceed Makes U.S. Debut at PRINT 01

At the Print 01 show, Heidelberg is showcasing two software applications that help digital printing environments make the most of their existing investments and boost productivity. Making its U.S. debut at Print 01 is DataXceed software – formerly known as CSP-Mercury software. DataXceed recognizes and processes virtually all of the popular file formats used in data centers in industry, administration, banks and insurance companies – enabling cost savings by pooling printing between functional departments. Commercial printers benefit from the software by being able to perform a wider variety of high-value jobs. Heidelberg also is celebrating the one-year anniversary of its coXist software, which allows Xerox DigiPath and XDS job submission software users to reap the benefits of the Heidelberg Digimaster 9110 Network Imaging System – without changing their existing setup. It helps protect customers' investments in job assembly and storage workflows by enabling users to add another printer without requiring additional equipment or training costs. “Our DataXceed and coXist software offerings are key elements of our total workflow solution for the Digimaster 9110,” said Wolfgang Pfizenmaier, Heidelberg's Management Board member in charge of digital print initiatives. “They are shining examples of Heidelberg’s ongoing commitment to making the Digimaster more productive and profitable for customers worldwide.” DataXceed for Data Centers First announced at CeBIT 2001, DataXceed is a turnkey software solution that is fortifying Heidelberg's growing market position in data centers. The software works seamlessly with the Digimaster to enable highly flexible data exchange, so that users no longer need to worry about the work formerly required to convert forms, typefaces or logos. Moreover, it is the only solution available that combines all of the most common datastreams in one controller or server. Whether using XES, IPDS, DJDE, METACODE or IGP environments, users can keep existing resources and print what they want, when they want – through a network and/or host link in any desired format. DataXceed distributes and organizes every print job and data flow so that the right output devices are utilized most efficiently. The software offers several key value propositions for customers: ·Providing print-stream translation of existing/legacy formats to HP PCL format, allowing jobs to be routed to the Digimaster or any other PCL printer. ·Enabling companies to merge both network-document printing with data center output streams on the same printer. ·Providing the flexibility to print from any host environment to any printer, anytime, anywhere. ·Handling resource conversion for seamless integration. ·Bringing host and LAN environments together for added versatility. coXist for DigiPath users coXist software enables Digimaster 9110 and Xerox DocuTech systems to use a common front-end library. Since it runs on the Digimaster’s Systems Control Subsystem, the software allows users to submit jobs without modifying their existing DigiPath software setup – except to add an additional production printer. By using the Print Production method of job submission from DigiPath, maximum speed and productivity can be achieved on the Digimaster. For customers without DigiPath, the software automatically transforms Xerox-specific commands into the equivalent of Heidelberg commands. coXist also enables access to unique features of the Digimaster, through extensions to the fields in the Xerox software. For example, users can automatically make multiple copies of multiple-part forms.
