GretagMacbeth: iCColor 200 Provides Fast, Accurate Spectral Chart Measurement

Press release from the issuing company

CHICAGO, IL; September 6, 2001 — In PRINT ‘01 booth 5325 GretagMacbeth is introducing iCColor 200 Series, an automated spectral chart reader that sets a new benchmark in productivity and price-performance for use in color managed prepress workflows. This high precision unit can scan in both x and y direction automatically and read a chart with 288 patches in 2-3 minutes. Charts only need to be fed through a single time so the operator can feed a single-sheet color chart into the instrument and literally walk away while measurements are being taken. This automatic, hands-free approach ensures precise, error-free measurements every time and eliminates the need to hand-feed multiple strips through the device. “iCColor enables prepress professionals to develop ICC profiles more quickly and with fewer errors, resulting in more consistent and reliable color matching, “ said Iris Mangelschots, Vice President of Worldwide Marketing at GretagMacbeth, “We are innovating new products at improved price-performance levels that help increase the bottom line for our customers, saving them time and helping them reduce waste.” iCColor features a large graphical display that swivels for easy visibility and allows all measurement values to be displayed at the same time. The control wheel provides quick navigation through the easy-to-understand menus and balloon help. Different local user languages are available and can be activated in seconds. Charts are formatted with special control bars at each end, ensuring that they are properly fed through the instrument. The built-in white reference tile makes the unit self-calibrating. iCColor can also be used for single spot measurements – colors that can then be imported into popular design applications or used to perform a quick quality control check. In addition to the iCColor 200 Series, the iCColor 300 Series provides the spectral reflective and densitometric transmissive readings needed in photo lab process control environments. iCColor is part of GretagMacbeth’s growing family of color measurement and color management solutions. iCColor 200 Series is positioned in the mid-range of the product line which also includes the Eye-One Pro measurement device for the creative and prepress markets, and Spectrolino/SpectroScanfor exacting, high-end prepress professionals. When paired with GretagMacbeth’s new ProfileMaker 4.0 software, iCColor provides a cost-effective, mid-range color management solution. GretagMacbeth will begin shipping iCColor 200 Series in October through its network of graphic arts resellers. The iCColor 200 Series will also be available bundled with the company’s newly announced ProfileMaker 4.0 color management software.
