MAN Roland Comments on Xeikon Situation, Shows Support

Press release from the issuing company

Further to the release of details regarding the future of OEM partner Xeikon NV, MAN Roland has issued positive comments regarding the future of the relationship. The OEM contract between the two companies was sealed in spring 2000. Since then, MAN Roland markets, sells and services Xeikon´s digital printing systems with their own brands of DICOpress, DICOpage and DICOpack. Whilst the financial situation of Xeikon has reached the status where the company has filed a request for creditor protection, there is strong confidence that the relevant courts will approve the preparation of a restructuring plan for the business, which will put Xeikon back on a solid, future-proof basis. "We are convinced that the business with the DICO-OEM systems and consumables will continue and expand on a long term basis," said Paul Steidle, Member of the Board of MAN Roland, responsible for the Digital Printing Systems Division. "We have ensured that the supply of consumables, systems and parts as well as second level support is guaranteed on a short- to medium-term basis, meaning that for MAN Roland customers and prospects, it is business as usual." As Paul Steidle points out, MAN Roland´s strategy of serving the short-run color market with its unique DICOweb digital offset press as well as electrographic systems on an OEM basis is being very successful since its start at drupa 2000. Regarding digital printing as an important strategic market, MAN Roland is taking care of specific needs of the graphic industry by enhancing the product range with inline-finishing and workflow options. MAN Roland utilizes Xeikon engines within the DICOpress, DICOpage and DICOpack digital printing systems. The company is convinced that the existing product range with its unrivalled performance and quality has a strong potential in the market and will therefore be further developed on a long-term basis.
