Ricoh to Market EFI Velocity Workflow Software

Press release from the issuing company

FOSTER CITY, Calif.--Nov. 13, 2001--Electronics For Imaging (EFI), the world leader in providing hardware and software imaging solutions for networked printers and copiers, today announced that Ricoh Corporation, the Dependable Digital(TM) output company, has agreed to market, support and endorse EFI's Velocity(TM) workflow software as part of its solutions offerings throughout the US. Ricoh will market the Velocity suite through its Savin, Lanier, Ricoh, and Gestetner subsidiaries, as well as its independent dealer network. Velocity is EFI's innovative line of modular, scalable software designed to maximize throughput and produce the greatest number of print jobs in the shortest possible timeframe. Velocity is capable of driving up to ten color or black and white MFPs at once through one intuitive interface. "EFI's Velocity makes digital printing more powerful, productive and easier to manage, which makes it an ideal workflow solution for our customers in intensive production environments,'' said Yuji Koyanagi, Director, Office Solutions Group Marketing, Ricoh Corporation. Ricoh will offer the complete EFI Velocity suite through its subsidiaries. The Velocity suite currently includes four modules -- Velocity Balance(TM), Velocity Scan(TM), Velocity Build(TM), and Velocity Estimate(TM). The advanced Balance module is the core of the Velocity workflow software system. It features Dynamic PPD technology that automatically self-configures to utilize each print engine to its full capabilities. Velocity Balance directs jobs over multiple printers or splits jobs between color and black and white printers, dramatically increasing productivity. Velocity Scan further enhances productivity and efficiency by incorporating scanned hardcopy originals seamlessly into the workflow process. Velocity Build provides document preview, document merging, document editing, document imposition, and PDF editing tools. Finally, Velocity Estimate provides users with an easy way to determine the cost of print jobs. "We are proud that Ricoh has chosen to promote EFI's Velocity workflow software to customers seeking to gain the maximum amount of productivity from their printing equipment,'' said Frank Mallozzi, Vice President of Worldwide Sales, Electronics for Imaging.
