Danka Announces Support for Alto Imaging, Newest Version of Ultraware

Press release from the issuing company

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.--Oct. 31, 2001--Danka Business Systems PLC today announced that it is able to offer feature-rich document management software including direct processing of PDF files, copyright management and new case management software for the legal community, as a result of its integration of Alto Imaging Technologies' UltraWare 4 software suite. The new Copyright Management Module helps companies and quick printers manage the process of obtaining copyright clearances. This software tracks the status of each project and automatically generates requests for copyright clearance from major clearing houses. The software can also be used to manage the process of compiling manuals and other types of corporate documents that do not involve copyright issues, but require strict version control. The new Case Management Module for the legal community contains a database for managing cases, along with support for documents generated at every stage of the legal process. This software enables a legal firm to more efficiently track the status of each case, and direct the copying and printing performed on a Danka printing system. This module is currently in testing at customer sites and will be available for order by the end of the year. Danka customers also benefit from a new architecture for Web-based job submission and tracking. This software allows users throughout the company to select input and output options using either the Internet or a corporate intranet. Other new features of UltraWare 4 software that Danka offers its customers include: * Direct processing of PDF files * Broader support for creating and publishing color documents * Ability to make text annotations and edit commands for selected pages, such as designating pages for simplex printing in a duplex job; and * Page level input source and output bin selection. Customized Solutions Danka and Alto Imaging work together to customize software to meet the requirements of specific customers and vertical markets. "We have worked with Alto Imaging for years to develop applications that solve specific industry needs,'' said Sam Errigo, vice president of Danka's U.S. Solutions Group. "Together we have been able to develop new software features that automate manual tasks or facilitate integration from a variety of sources so that our customers can achieve increased productivity and lower labor expenses.'' Danka is the premier reseller of UltraWare in the United States, and features UltraWare as part of its DankaWare(TM) family of software solutions. "Danka's staff understands emerging market applications and provides valuable input to the development of both standard and customized software applications,'' noted Don Parker, president of Alto Imaging Technologies.
