Donnelley Earns Extended Contract With Verizon, 850 Titles Through 2013

CHICAGO, Oct. 29 -- R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company has signed an extended contract with Verizon Information Services, the world's largest directory publisher, through December 2013. Under the agreement, R.R. Donnelley will print and bind more than 400 directory titles for Verizon through January 2004. Beginning in 2004, the company will print and bind an additional 400 titles for a total of 850 titles through 2013. "Many factors go into a decision of this magnitude. The size and flexibility of our platform along with its ongoing performance was a critical element of our success. R.R. Donnelley has proven that our service and quality will meet the current and future needs of Verizon,'' said Robert O'Neil, senior vice president, sales, R.R. Donnelley. "Verizon has had a strong relationship with R.R. Donnelley over the years, and we are looking forward to continuing the relationship,'' said Ron Montgomery, group vice president -- printing and distribution for Verizon Information Services. "Their commitment to quality and service will serve us and our customers well.'' "This contract expansion extends the already solid partnership we have with this very important customer, and further strengthens our position as the industry leader in the directory printing market,'' added O'Neil. Verizon Information Services was formed in July 2000 when Bell Atlantic and GTE merged.R.R. Donnelley had previously produced work for both Bell Atlantic Directory Corporation and GTE Directories Corporation.
