October 1, 2001—www.exstream.com—Exstream Software, Inc. announced today the general availability of Dialogue version 2.5, the third major release this year of its award-winning software for fully personalized document creation in high-volume environments. Significant enhancements include the new Regulatory Support module, which allows compliance administrators to manage content inclusion or exclusion based on effective dates and/or jurisdictions (especially important to the insurance industry); a new module to handle dynamic data access and transactional processing in real time, to and from any data source; and a component library that allows users to store and maintain document components in one place for dynamic update in all applications in which they appear. Dialogue v2.5 also adds the ability to output personalized print markup language (PPML), variable print specification (VPS), and rich text format (RTF) to the already impressive list of print and electronic outputs. Since Dialogue's introduction in November 1999, Exstream Software has taken the business world by storm, developing an impressive client list that includes heavy-hitters such as Merrill Lynch, Fidelity Investments, Unitrin Direct Insurance, American Express, HealthNow New York (BCBS parent) and Xerox. This year Dialogue has received a number of industry accolades, including Seybold Editors' "Hot Pick" and Billing World magazine's "Best New Product" finalist. Regulatory Support The new Regulatory Support module makes it easy to manage content by effective dates and jurisdictions (or locations). This allows compliance administrators to ensure appropriate content is automatically included in customer documents based on effective dates and/or jurisdictions. Regulatory support is particularly important for the insurance industry, which is continually challenged to maintain varying content that complies with state and national government regulations.  Dynamic Data Access Dynamic Data Access (DDA) allows Dialogue to access user-written routines to process data. This allows Dialogue to process transaction data in real time, interfacing with messaging systems like IBM's MQSeries and other middleware products. Additionally, Dynamic Data Access supports encryption/decryption applications; can read/write to any corporate database or application; can conduct table look-ups on the fly; and can spawn other processes. Component Library The new component library allows users to store commonly used objects—like tables, text boxes, business rules and images—for reuse in multiple applications. Components only have to be changed in one place for automatic update in all applications in which they appear. They can be renamed, cloned, moved, and deleted from the library, as well as "locked" to prevent resizing, rotation, and rule override. Additionally, full version control and approval workflow are maintained for each library component. PPML, VPS, and RTF Outputs Personalized Print Markup Language (PPML) is the new industry-standard print language to support color printing. It is an open, device-independent standard that allows personalized print to be more flexible, easier to use and more affordable to produce. PPML supports a full range of on-demand printing, ranging from the office environment to high-speed production environments. Variable Print Specification (VPS) is a specially-designed PostScript-based print language, developed by CreoScitex for the definition of variable information documents. Used extensively by Xerox printers (including the new iGen3), VPS is an intelligent language that provides a structured definition of the documents being processed. Rich Text Format (RTF), the Microsoft Word format, includes formatting, font information, text color, page layout information, and can be processed by virtually all word processing programs. This is important for applications in which the output needs to be revised by customers.
