BFS Business Printing Installs Komori Spica 529 Perfector

Press release from the issuing company

Rolling Meadows, IL, October 1, 2008 – Komori America Corporation, a premier manufacturer of sheetfed and web offset printing presses, today announced it has installed a fully automated five-color, Spica 29 Perfector offset press at BFS Business Printing, operating on five city floors in the heart of Boston. The company was founded in 1965 as a printer primarily servicing architects, engineers, and developers. During the 1970s, BFS Business Printing expanded, adding a commercial offset printing division that continues to thrive. The company chose the Komori five-color Spica 29 Perfector for its small footprint that easily accommodates the company's limited space, faster makeready time, and to move from a 25" to 29" sheet for added capability.

The Spica 529P is receiving instant approval from BFS Business Printing and its customers due its drastically shorter turnaround. "We will be able to double the amount of jobs we can accomplish with this press. A job that would require an hour of makeready time on our older presses now takes only 20 minutes on the Spica," said John Merrill, co-owner and chief financial officer of BFS Business Printing. "This press was the perfect size and weight for our facility. The compact footprint allows us the maximum press possible for our available floor space. And we're enjoying increased quality with the Spica's sharper colors and ink key system. Having five-color capability also speeds our time to market."

Loaded with the latest automation features, the Spica 529P answers the company's need to quicker turnaround, lower costs, and high quality. BFS Business Printing reports they particularly like the single touch panel and tool-less clamping as it reduces the workload for its operators, again adding to productivity.

The Spica 529P streamlines traditional turnaround constraints of the offset printing process. BFS general manager Andrew Luce says, "We know that we can rely on the superior quality and service of the Komori press. The Spica 529P is a monumental upgrade to our offset department. Not only will it enhance quality and turnaround time, it opens the door to new capabilities for us."

"We're excited to offer BFS Business Printing a multi-functional press in a compact design that can meet their quality standards," said Ken Sabol, vice president of sales for Komori's Eastern Region. "The ability to help a company like BFS achieve expand business opportunities is very satisfying."
