Imation to Showcase Wide Range of Proofing Options During Print 01
Press release from the issuing company
OAKDALE, Minn.--Aug. 29, 2001-- Following the lead of its new advertising campaign, "Imation lives for accurate color,'' Imation Corp. will showcase a broad range of innovative proofing solutions, designed for more precise color, at Print 01, September 6 - 13, at the McCormick Center in Chicago.
In Imation's booth - No. 5805 - exhibits and demonstrations will promote the strength of the Matchprint brand promise through a wide variety of proofing technologies.
"Corporate clients and production professionals are clearly under pressure to deliver printed pieces faster and at a lower cost with no compromises on quality,'' said Barbara Cederberg, president, Imation Color Technologies. "Imation's color proofing systems make it easier for customers to take more control over color - hitting their color targets at every stage of the creative, prepress and print production workflow.''
Imation set the standard in proofing with its Matchprint Proofing System, took proofing into the digital age with its leading Matchprint Digital Halftone Proofing System and is now introducing its new and enhanced third generation system, the Matchprint Digital Halftone GTProofing System with GAMUTec Technology. Visitors to PRINT 01 will be able to witness the outstanding color proofing performance of this flagship digital proofing system, along with the new Matchprint DtP (direct-to-paper) Proofing System and Matchprint Custom Color Software, in Booth 5805. Imation will also demonstrate its new wide-format Matchprint Inkjet Proofing System 5042/5060, its extensions to Matchprint Inkjet Proofing Systems for small and large formats, Imation Matchprint Virtual Proofing with breakthrough monitor-to-monitor proofing solution, and the Matchprint Professional Server with the Xerox DocuColor® 12 -- the only printer/copier to be SWOP(TM) certified.
Introducing Matchprint Digital Halftone GT Proofing System with
GAMUTec Technology - Third Generation Proofing Software and
Materials Set New Benchmarks for Accuracy and Consistency
Imation sets new standards for proofing accuracy and color consistency with its third generation digital halftone proofing system, the new and powerful Imation Matchprint Digital Halftone GT Proofing System with GAMUTec Technology. Visitors to Booth 5805 will be able to witness output provided by the new system, running live on CreoScitex Lotem Quantum and ECRM DesertCat 88, computer-to-plate/proofing systems. The proprietary and exclusive GAMUTec technology includes media, software and services that enhance the Imation Matchprint Digital Halftone System's ability to hit clients' color targets consistently and increase client acceptance rates.
Over a year in development, this third generation of the Imation Matchprint Digital Halftone Proofing System offers improved color donors that deliver a broader color gamut, improving correlation to customer targets, as well as improved shadow detail; durable materials for easier handling, less waste and reduced production costs; transfer capability to more customer stocks than ever before; and benchmark performance in stochastic screening.
Imation Matchprint Digital Halftone DtP (Direct to Paper) Proofing System: Imation will demonstrate its new direct-to-paper proofing system that lets printers proof directly onto specially coated printing stocks. The streamlined process saves valuable production time and labor, reduces waste and gives a more accurate representation of the printed piece.
Imation Matchprint Digital Halftone Custom Color Software: A fully digital solution, Matchprint Digital Halftone Custom Color Software allows commercial printers and prepress shops to simulate custom colors and Pantone(TM) colors (Pantone certification is pending) using the CMYK color set. Samples of the Custom Color Software output will be available at Booth 5805.
A Revolutionary Solution for Inkjet Proofing
Imation will unveil its new fully integrated eight-page wide-format inkjet system, optimized for proofing, that delivers uncompromising image quality at top speed with superior output predictability. The new system includes two Imation Matchprint inkjet proofers - the 5042 and 5060, the proprietary Matchprint Color RIP and color profiling software that enables simulation of a wide range of color hard copy targets, Matchprint watermarked media, and new Matchprint Inks, answering the customer requests for a "one stop shop'' for their inkjet needs.
Seeing is Believing... The Future of Digital Proofing
The advent of the Imation Matchprint Virtual Proofing Solution introduces an entirely new category in proofing -- accurate and consistent monitor-to-monitor CMYK color rendered on an RGB display. The new Imation Matchprint Virtual Proofing Solution allows the Print '01 crowd to preview the future of digital proofing - a monitor-based proof that matches the customer's target for print. Demonstrations will be available at Print '01 in Imation's Booth 5805.
The hardware, software and service based solution is the result of Imation breakthroughs in color science and a partnership with RealTimeImage to incorporate its unique full-resolution image streaming and collaboration tools. The system, currently in Alpha testing at a major advertising agency, pre-press house and publisher, will be in additional sites for Beta testing later this year.
SWOP(TM)-Certified Digital Color Printer/Copier System
Imation will demonstrate its InterTech Technology award-winning Imation Matchprint Professional Server with the Xerox DocuColor 12 printer/copier and the DocuColor 12 LP printer. The Matchprint Professional Server with the DocuColor 12 and Xerox co-branded Imation Matchprint proofing media make up the first printer/copier system to meet the publishing industry's Specifications for Web Offset Publications (SWOP(TM)) certification. The Xerox-Imation solution now offers new benchmarks for low cost - not only for the system itself but also for the proofs and short run print jobs it creates - and for faster turnarounds among SWOP-certified systems. Imation's Matchprint Professional Server takes advantage of co-branded color laser proofing papers and Imation's advanced color locking and color profiling tools, enabling customers to accurately simulate their color targets and achieve consistent proofing day-to-day.
