Study Says Digital Devices Drive Down Duplicators

Press release from the issuing company

According to Trendwatch, 19% of quick printers see "electronic black-and-white printing" (like DocuTech) as a sales opportunity. This is compared to 5% of all print businesses. Quick printers have reported rises in digital black-and-white printing, digital color copying, and even optical copying, but report decreases in traditional offset duplicator work. Quick printers themselves feel that their own duplicator work will decline significantly by 2005. Offset duplicators were once the heart of the quick printing business, but it seems that quick printers are in the midst of getting heart transplants that facilitate shorter runs and faster turnaround.
