POLAR and ScenicSoft Announce Preps CIP3 support for POLAR Compucut

Press release from the issuing company

August 23, 2001 Lynnwood, Washington — ScenicSoft announces that it will show new versions of its suite of imposition-related tools at Print 01 (Booth 7024). Upcoming releases of UpFront, Preps, and Pandora have the ability to feed CIP3 cutting data to the POLAR Compucut modular software system for each press sheet in a job. "By adding CIP3 support for POLAR Compucut to all three products, we show ScenicSoft’s commitment to satisfying the needs of our users who rely on Heidelberg solutions," ScenicSoft President Erik Smith said. "The new version of Preps also has the option to export JDF files, and refines its Delta List support." CIP3 cutting information can also be included in Preps and Pandora PJTF output. The Compucut system can be installed on existing POLAR cutters and allows automatic configuration of a new cutting program while the previous program is being executed. The Compucut system can be connected to all 1985–1995 models of the Polar EMC monitors and to all Polar ED models since 1995. Commenting on the new Preps feature, managing director for POLAR Cutting Systems, Michael Neugart said, "This level of integration between prepress and finishing, which was up to now only available with Heidelberg’s Signastation, reduces time and cost while increasing consistency and quality. It brings the vision of a fully automated print environment in an open environment one step closer to reality. We have best experiences with this functionality in our customer base with Signastation, Signapack, Compucut, and Compufold. We are happy that this functionality is now accessible for the wide-ranging base of ScenicSoft users too." ScenicSoft Senior Marketing Manager Tove Hoyer added, "This is a showcase of how open standards will continue to create new opportunities for those print shops that recognize the value of cross-departmental integration. In the current economic climate, these are the kinds of smart investments that can truly increase the bottom line of a forward-looking organization. We are very confident that by extending our collaborative efforts we will continue to push the boundaries of what can be achieved. ScenicSoft and POLAR-MOHR clearly share common goals and objectives in this regard." About POLAR-MOHR POLAR-MOHR is the worldwide largest manufacturer of POLAR guillotine cutters, paper handling, and label systems located in Hofheim, Germany, 15 minutes from the Frankfurt, Germany International airport.
