Heidelberg Aligns Business Centers with Product Portfolio, Promotes Executives

ATLANTA (August 21, 2001) - Heidelberg USA today announced the alignment of its operations into four business segments and the appointment of new executives to lead these segments and other operational areas. The new structure, focusing on Digital, Postpress, Sheetfed and Web, is designed to strategically position the world's market leader for the print media industry to meet its customers' needs and provide complete printing solutions for the marketplace.   Niels M. Winther, a 34-year veteran with Heidelberg, has assumed responsibility as head of Heidelberg's Market Center North America (U.S. and Canada).   Within Market Center North America, Richard Armstrong was named to the position of president, Heidelberg Canada Graphic Equipment, Ltd., and reports to Winther. Armstrong has spent 16 years in the graphic arts industry, the last four as vice president, Customer Support for Heidelberg. He previously held positions in engineering, project management and plant management in the Canadian printing industry.    Other newly announced executives in the Heidelberg USA organization reporting to Winther include: * Digital -- Bill Blair * Marketing -- James Martin * Postpress -- Larry Tanowitz * Sales and Service -- Donn Goldstick * Sheetfed -- Soren Larsen * Web -- Mark Levin   Bill Blair, Senior Vice President, Digital                                                                      Blair is responsible for the strategic direction for sales and service activities relating to the company's black-and-white and color digital products. Products include the Digimaster 9110 for black-and-white digital solutions and the NexPress 2100, a digital color press developed from a joint venture between Heidelberg and Kodak. Blair was promoted from president, Heidelberg Canada.   James Martin, Vice President, Marketing Martin will manage the strategic direction and management of all marketing for Heidelberg USA.  His responsibilities include marketing, advertising and public relations for all Heidelberg USA's products and services. Martin was promoted from director, Direct Marketing, Heidelberg USA.   Larry Tanowitz, Senior Vice President, Postpress                                                       Tanowitz is responsible for the strategic direction and management of sales and service activities for all finishing products, including digital and web finishing products. Products in this segment include the Stahlfolder line of folding equipment as well as saddle and perfect binding equipment, and the Polar line of cutting and labeling products. Tanowitz was promoted from vice president, Postpress, Heidelberg USA.   Donn Goldstick, Senior Vice President, Sales and Service Goldstick is responsible for sales and service for the entire line of Heidelberg products. His duties include sales and ongoing service after the sale. Goldstick was promoted from senior vice president, Customer Support, Heidelberg USA.    Soren Larsen, Senior Vice President, Sheetfed Larsen is responsible for the strategic direction and management of sales and service activities relating to Heidelberg's sheetfed, direct imaging, and prepress products and services. These products include the Printmaster and Speedmaster lines of sheetfed presses; the Quickmaster and Speedmaster line of direct imaging presses; and Heidelberg's prepress solutions. Larsen was promoted from vice president, National Accounts, Heidelberg USA.   Mark Levin, Senior Vice President, Web Based in Heidelberg's Dover, New Hampshire office, Levin is responsible for the strategic direction and management of sales and service for the company's newspaper and commercial web presses. Levin was promoted from vice president, Sales, Heidelberg Web Systems.
