Cambridge, UK August 17, 2001 - PRINT '01 will mark the first public appearance of Global Graphics as one unified company since aligning in early June its nine prepress hardware subsidiaries and printing software companies worldwide into two divisions — Global Graphics' Software and Global Graphics' Hardware. The company will also introduce and demonstrate several major prepress hardware and document workflow software technologies at the six-day PRINT '01 exhibition. A world leader in the design and manufacture of high-performance prepress equipment and software to the graphic arts industry, Global Graphics' Hardware and Software divisions collectively represent more than 50 patents and patents pending, around 600 people, and ten leading product brands — some that have been on the graphic arts scene for more than 20 years. In its 3,500 sq-ft, bi-level booth, Global Graphics will be showing products from both divisions, many in live demonstrations. Global Graphics Hardware Global Graphics' Hardware develops and manufactures a complete range of prepress hardware for the preparation of print-ready flexographic and lithographic plates as well as a wide range of equipment for other printing processes. The company believes it has the most widely qualified and approved CtP plate-processing equipment in the world. The company produces a wide range of digital input, output, proofing, and processing devices. Global Graphics' Hardware products shown at Print '01 will include: * Cirrus 2™ – This high-quality, high-performance B3 metal platesetter for the smaller format printer or repro house entering the CtP market will be making its commercial debut at PRINT 01 as a fully operational device. A green HeNe laser version for traditional darkroom use will be shown in the Global Graphics booth operating in conjunction with the Global Graphics SDT 650 plate-processor. The ImageGate RIP that drives the Cirrus 2 uses the industry standard Harlequin level 3 PostScript software, which is compatible with a range of third party proofing devices. * 370HS™ Vertical Scanner – The 370HS, which combines flatbed ease of use with drum scanner quality and productivity, will demonstrate its ability to copydot scan a typical A4 film in 10 minutes. * ScanXact II - is Global Graphics' new colour conversion and sharpening scanner interface. It offers full ICG compatibility and the ability to open and process third party RGB images. ScanXact II includes the full feature set of the traditional software with the added facility to import ICC input, output and monitor profiles, and interactively view and edit images with Speedimount™ – a unique software and plotter-based system for mounting photopolymer flexographic printing plates on a carrier sheet for corrugated board post print. Global Graphics Software Global Graphics Software develops and markets software solutions encompassing everything from the widely recognized Harlequin and Jaws RIPs and Jaws PDF Creator, to easy-to-use MaxWorkFlow solutions, colour technologies and other tools that allow its OEMs to custom-design their own systems. These files can be used with Adobe Acrobat products or any other third party PDF tools. Server based applications of this product, that give control over the way PDF files are generated and received in the print environment, will also be previewed. * MaxWorkFlow™ – The latest version of this next-generation visual workflow design tool for automating standard pre-press and printing processes will be unveiled, along with new modules. MaxWorkFlow already includes more than 25 different modules that perform key tasks such as local/remote proofing, high-resolution outputting, EPS and PDF optimisation, downsampling, composite proofing, imposition, OPI, and trapping. Its unique user interface and modular design allow it to be customised for individual needs and easily upgraded. * Global Colour Technologies – Global Graphics' will introduce the broadening of its colour technology across the spectrum of document management from creation to output with the addition of a new line of standalone colour management products. These include ICC colour profiling for monitors, scanners and printers. The new line is in addition to the existing colour management solutions available with the Harlequin RIP for high-end graphics production and a new colour management engine for Jaws that will be introduced. * Harlequin RIPs – At Print '01, Global Graphics' will unveil the latest version of its industry-leading Harlequin RIP Management System. OEMs can choose from a variety of Harlequin RIP Editions, from the full-featured Classic to "GUI-Iess" versions that can be embedded in their own applications. Global Graphics' will unveil a new document server for driving high speed colour lasers, printers and proofing devices. * JAWS embedded RIPs – A new embedded controller software technology will be introduced, based on Global Graphics' versatile Jaws RIP. Each of the new embedded software products will be demonstrated driving popular colour output devices. The Jaws RIP is a highly configurable PostScript Level 3 and PDF compatible interpreter, offering full support for ICC profiling, and designed to run on a wide range of platforms and operating systems. It is widely used in products that drive devices ranging from imagesetters and wide format inkjets, to digital copiers and desktop printers.
