Dalim Software Builds on Print Predictability w/ Launch of P2 Technology at PRINT 01

Press release from the issuing company

KEHL, GERMANY -- August 14, 2001 -- At Print 01 (Chicago, September 6-13, 2001) -- Dalim Software GmbH, the leading supplier of innovative prepress workflow and production solutions, launches a new product and introduces a range of enhancements to its suite of production solutions. About P2 Technology Making its industry debut is P2 Technology, which assures file formats co-exist in the same workflow with consistent and predictable output. Dalim Software will also present new features of FiCELLE, its unique internet-based publication production management system; new automated tools for TWiST, its powerful digital workflow software; a new pricing structure for the Linux-based LiTHO layout and retouching software, and demonstrates the recently-launched suite of SWiNG predefined workflow modules. P2 Technology: Quality assured output in the ultimate PDF file P2 Technology builds on Dalim Software's unequalled workflow experience with some of the industry's largest users. The technology optimizes the file, effectively 'cleaning up' the content and removing erroneous data that may result in inconsistent output further along the production chain. This technology is implemented within a new PDF/P2 file format output, to be included in Dalim Software's LiTHO, TWiST and SWiNG. PDF/P2 is a raster-based file within a PDF shell. Currently, the 'standard' PDF file format reduces the chance of RIP misinterpretation, yet it still requires ripping; thus the possibility of introducing undesirable elements. Like the TIFF.IT file format, PDF/P2 eliminates RIP interpretation errors. However, unlike the TIFF.IT, PDF/P2 utilizes PDF technology to deliver a file that is physically smaller in size, easier to view and print and totally PDF1.2 and 1.3 compatible for easy integration into PDF-only production workflow systems. Dalim Software still offers, of course, the standard PDF as an option, in both PDF1.2 and PDF1.3 - as well as the new PDF standard, PDF/X-1 output, for the reliable digital delivery of advertising. P2 Technology is available with all new versions of DALiM SWiNG, and is integrated into the soon-to-be-released v4.5 versions of TWiST and LiTHO, shipping 1st October 2001. FICELLE: Magazine iProduction from Dalim Software For the first time, FiCELLE brings timely and consistent information about a publication's status to all participants of the graphics arts chain. Displaying production status in an easy to understand color-coded format, FiCELLE allows real time evaluation of both editorial and advertising pages and alerts users of potential schedule problems earlier in the process. LiTHO: The World's Most Fully-Featured PDF Editor? With a new pricing structure and availability on Linux, Dalim Software LiTHO is perhaps the most powerful PDF editing tool for pages, images and vector data in the industry. It supports PDF1.2, PDF1.3, PDF/X and PDF/P2, and allows last minute editing prior to sending the file to the RIP. Uniquely, LiTHO allows the viewing of PDF transparency and overprint information, allowing true WYSIWYG in a PDF production environment. TWiST: The Fastest, Most Flexible Digital Workflow Application In The Industry New for TWiST are automated tools to ease the problem of regional variations in a magazine environment. TWiST's already legendary automated trapping tools have been optimized to run even faster. Important for commercial printers, TWiST now comes with a pre-packaged CTP workflow, with built-in PDF/P2 option, to increase its ease-of-use. Also, unique in the industry, TWiST's database tools allow for a total database-driven workflow. All new versions of TWiST now ship standard with a reduced feature-set version of DALiM LiTHO. SWiNG: Pre-defined workflows utilizing the power of TwiST Based on award-winning DALiM TWiST technology, SWiNG offers small and medium sized companies an affordable yet extremely powerful tool to process prepress data automatically and consistently. As a robust, high-performance production workflow product line running on Linux, it offers an unbeatable ROI - even when compared to Windows NT or Windows 2000 based systems. With Dalim Software's products improving system performance and its aggressive new pricing structures, at Print 01 it will be showing the significant differences it can make to printing productivity and the bottom line for its customers in the printing and publishing industries.
