Today, the new scanners Cougar and Chameleon are available in 25" and 36" versions and must be considered the most cost effective scanners in the market. This new product line allows Contex to enter new market segments, which offer users within GIS, CAD, Reproduction, Pre-press, Advertising business, Sign Makers, Exhibition and Display manufacturers, Photo Laps and many more access to the new scanning technology. Upgrade from B/W to color Both the USB based Chameleon scanners come in a Base version for monochrome scanning and by using Contex´s unique Smart Card Upgrade Technology they can easily be transformed into Plus versions, gaining features like higher speed and 24bit color. "The USB standard interface makes the large format scanners - Plug and Play- and it is as easy to install a 25 or 36 inch scanner with its myriad of features, as it is to install a standard USB mouse. And when needed, you can upgrade to more features and color, by sliding our credit card size Smarts Card into the upgrade slot" States Thomas Weldingh, Division Manager of Contex. New High Speed High Precision Color scanners The new Cougar line comes with both high performance SCSI interface and an industry standard USB interface. This will satisfy a wider variety of professional users who are seeking high performance and greater flexibility with respect to connectivity. User Friendliness The Chameleon and Cougar utilizes Contex`s new concept of One Touch Scanning. One Touch Scanning allows the user to scan to file for archiving purposes, scan to copy, scan to print or scan to mail with a single touch. Another breakthrough for the Contex scanners is the implementation of a new power control concept. The Advanced Power Management System ensures an optimal working temperature while reducing CCD noise. The Advanced Power Management system additionally allows the user to leave the scanner in low-power mode and program it to power up automatically before they arrive at work, saving money and adding convenience. All Wheel Drive In order to meet users requirements in the "print for pay" industry, the new generation of Contex scanners can scan up to 0,6" thick documents using Contex`s new All-Wheel Drive precision rollers with contour adjustment. Precision tracking of thick documents has become increasingly important for users, and with the new All-Wheel Drive, Contex not only avoids slippage, but also maintains precision accuracy, even for thick documents. Motorized cameras for easy for perfect alignment and stitching Delivering the promise of ease of use, both the new Cougar and Chameleon contain a totally automated system of scanner maintenance. With the new scanners you can within minutes, align, stitch, basic calibrate and color calibrate using a single calibration sheet without user intervention. It's a fully automated process! The new calibration system, which is the first of its kind in the industry, utilizes motorized cameras to ensure perfect alignment and stitching.
