ScenicSoft Previews TrapWise 3.5 at Print 01, Support for PDF Native Workflows

Press release from the issuing company

August 9, 2001, Lynnwood, Washington - ScenicSoft announced today that they will preview TrapWise 3.5, their latest version of the industry’s best selling stand-alone trapping application, for the first time at Print 01. TrapWise provides a complete interactive workflow, and can also be configured to work in an automated mode, using a simple hot folder mechanism to automate the trapping process. Commenting on the new version, ScenicSoft TrapWise Product Marketing Manager Paul Verwilt said, "TrapWise 3.5 continues to set the trend in digital trapping by building upon a solid, reliable, and proven trapping engine, and integrating support for the newest industry file formats and prepress processes." New features in TrapWise 3.5 include the ability to import, trap, and output Portable Document Format (PDF) 1.4 files without converting to PostScript, and with full control over OPI, color mapping, and overprinting. "This feature will allow the users to retain the advantages of the PDF file format throughout the complete workflow," adds Verwilt. Additionally, TrapWise 3.5 includes improved support for opaque inks, which gives the user unmatched flexibility when trapping metallic inks such as gold and silver, and other specialty inks. TrapWise 3.5 is scheduled to ship in December 2001. Users who buy a new copy of TrapWise from today on will receive a free upgrade to TrapWise 3.5 when it becomes available.
