FujiFilm Shows Off Digital Color Printing Standards at IMAGING USA 2001 Expo

Press release from the issuing company

PPA, IMAGING USA 2001, ROSEMONT, IL, August 5, 2001 – Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc., is introducing the new Fujifilm Pictrography 4000II, a flexible-format, true photographic quality color digital printer incorporating Fujifilm’s technologically-advanced imaging tools to produce high quality prints for graphic studios, professional studios and photo labs. Building on the resounding success of the Pictrography 4000, the Pictrography 4000II sets a new standard in digital color printing with its capacity for ultra high speed printing, photorealistic and continuous color quality and the ability to handle multiple paper sizes. For four consecutive years, the Fujifilm Pictrography series of digital printers has been awarded top honors in its product category by the Digital Imaging Marketing Association (DIMA). As the newest addition to Fujifilm’s highly acclaimed digital printing line up, the Pictrography 4000II boasts One Pass processing for both laser-diode exposures and yellow, magenta-cyan thermal development and dye transfers with Fujifilm’s Thermal Development and Dye Transfer Technology, allowing for an impressively sharp output. By comparison, the Pictrography 4000II delivers higher resolution than comparable print samples obtained through a dye sublimation process. "With the Pictrography 4000II, Fujifilm delivers a digital printing technology that sets new standards for high resolution print quality, high-speed printing, continuous color shading and flexibility with multiple paper sizes," said Jennifer Davalos, Marketing Manager, Professional Digital Products, Commercial Imaging Division, Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc. "We are expanding our digital technology products for labs and studios to enable them to quickly adapt to the changing needs of customers." The Pictography LCD control panel provides all necessary instructions during use and loading donor paper is fast and simple. Print time for the first Double Letter A/3 size image is approximately 90 seconds, with each subsequent print taking only 58 seconds, faster than ink jet or dye sublimation printing. The Pictrography 4000II uses a SCSI-II interface, and includes new printer drivers for the PowerMacintosh™ and Windows™ 95/98/2000/NT v. 4.0 systems providing users the means to quickly print out retouched images without worrying about using a particular platform or application. An Adobe PhotoShop® Plug-in is also included. The Pictrography 4000II offers a comprehensive slate of features, that deliver the project flexibility that professional studios and color labs expect from a high-end product including: Easy Color Calibration The Pictography 4000II calibrates color accuracy through its closed-loop color calibration system. Users can manipulate the Auto Calibrator and set optimum color conditions to maintain consistency over time or between print jobs. High Resolution 400 dpi enables the Pictrography 4000II to produce documents with the highest-level print quality. Fully Continuous Color Shading The Pictrography 4000II performs density modulation for each pixel of the line scan. As a result, there is no trade-off between gradation and resolution allowing for beautifully detailed print outputs – even in intermediate colors. Multiple Paper Sizes Flexibility To support a wide range of printing applications, the Pictrography 4000II provides handling for multiple paper size, from post card size to Photographic-standard 8x10, 10x12, and 12x18; it also handles standard paper sizes including A4, letter, A3, double letter, and wide sizes. Clean Printing Process The Pictrography 4000II is exceptionally clean and environmentally-friendly, as it requires no chemicals or toner.
