Press release from the issuing company

CHICAGO, Aug. 8 - R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company has formed a new consolidated business -- R.R. Donnelley Print Solutions -- and promoted Ronald E. Daly to president. Reporting to chairman, president and chief executive officer William L. Davis, Daly is now responsible for the domestic business of the company's Book Publishing Services, Core Commercial Print, Specialized Publishing Services and Telecommunications businesses. R.R. Donnelley Print Solutions also includes Telecommunications' European business. "Ron is an experienced, customer-focused leader who will play a critical role in building an even more customer-responsive, flexible organization as we transform the company from a leading provider of printing services to the foremost provider of communications solutions,'' Davis said. "He is the ideal person to lead our new Print Solutions platform.'' "We are taking yet another step forward in our company's transformation,'' said Daly, who most recently served as president of the Telecommunications unit. "In uniting these businesses, we remain firmly committed to print, while shaping the organization to efficiently produce even the most complex assignments. By partnering with customers, we will strive to deliver world- class service and distinctive solutions to meet their increasingly challenging communications needs. That will enable our customers to focus on what they do best-running their businesses.'' Daly, 54, joined R.R. Donnelley in 1964 and has led the Telecommunications unit since 1995. Under his guidance, Telecommunications has introduced several major customer enhancements, including full-color directory ads and "ride-along'' programs that allow retailers to use directory delivery as a channel to target new movers. Other efforts were focused on reducing cycle time in directory production, allowing publishers more time to sell advertising. Prior to 1995, Daly held positions of increasing responsibility in other areas of the company including the Financial Printing, Global Software Services and Electronic Graphics business units. He earned his B.A. degree from Governor's State University in 1977 and received an MBA degree from Loyola University in 1980. Daly serves as the vice chairman of the Environmental Law and Policy Center Board, as the secretary/treasurer of the Leadership Greater Chicago Board and as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He is also a member of the National Black MBA Association and Conference Board Council of Operating Executives.
