Adobe Web Tools Continue to Power the Best Sites on the Web

Press release from the issuing company

SAN JOSE, Calif.-July 27, 2001--Adobe Systems Incorporated, the leader in Network Publishing, today recognizes those customers who won 2001 Webby Awards. National Geographic and The Onion received both Webby and People's Voice Awards this year in the Education and Humor categories respectively. Travelocity.com won a Webby in the Commerce category, and VolunteerMatch took home a Webby for both Activism and Services. These companies, along with many others honored at the ceremony, depend upon Adobe's suite of Web design tools, including Adobe® Photoshop®, Adobe GoLive®, Adobe Illustrator®, Adobe LiveMotion(TM), Adobe Premiere®, and Adobe After Effects®, to create their award-winning Web sites. The tight integration and smooth workflow between Adobe's Web solutions allow designers to provide their users with a constant flow of timely, interactive content. "Web teams are under constant pressure to create, produce, and manage a compelling user experience that is not only functional, but also reliable, intuitive, engaging, and current,'' said Jim Stephens, senior vice president of e-Business development for Adobe Systems. "We are proud that these innovative professionals rely on the flexibility and power afforded by Adobe's Web tools to move their creative concepts to dynamic, award-winning Web sites.'' "The goal of our site is to create an interesting, interactive experience for everyone. We design everything from traditional educational materials to life-size king cobras and three-dimensional fantasy forests, keeping in mind that the content will be used across all forms of media,'' said Mark Holmes, vice president, programming and content development for National Geographic. "Photoshop is hands down the most dominant tool we use on the front end of our site design, while Illustrator is our primary tool for drawing and type work, and Premiere is key in producing our Web casts.'' According to Jeff Hartvigsen, multimedia/design manager at Travelocity.com, "Because our team uses Adobe products for every multimedia and design project associated with the Web site and print materials, we consider Photoshop and Illustrator indispensable tools. Travelocity.com uses these tools and many other Adobe products, like GoLive and Premiere, to develop rich visual content to educate our users and generate excitement about travel. Our goal is to deliver vivid images of exotic travel destinations around the world to ensureour customers are comfortable with purchasing travel services online.'' "At VolunteerMatch.org we leverage the power of the Internet to encourage volunteerism and provide innovative public services on the Web,'' said Jason Willett, director of communications at VolunteerMatch. "With tools like Adobe Photoshop we can produce the highest quality Web graphics to spotlight the important work of volunteers, and the nonprofits that need them.'' Adobe's Web solutions also provide graphics professionals the ability to optimize images for other mediums and seamlessly integrate multiple workflows using Adobe's comprehensive and integrated set of professional tools. "Since content for The Onion is primarily created for print, but also distributed over the Web, mobile devices, books, and even T-shirts, we depend on Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, ImageReady, and GoLive to create content once and quickly re-purpose it,'' said Andrew Welyczko, design director for The Onion. "Adobe provides a set of creative tools that lets us work fast in a variety of media and keep our content current, accurate, and consistent.'' The Webby Awards are presented annually by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences to those companies and individuals pioneering how the Web is constructed, seen, and used. The Awards are the leading international honor for Web sites and individual achievement in technology and creativity.
