Xerox Pumped for Print 01, DocuColor 2000 Similar to NexPress, But Will Cost Less

Press release from the issuing company

ROCHESTER, N.Y.-July 23, 2001--Xerox Corporation will demonstrate unmatched digital printing systems, solutions and services at the Print 01 tradeshow in Chicago from Sept. 6-13, as part of its continuing campaign to become the No. 1 player in the graphic arts market. The Xerox booth - large enough to host 10 Chicago Bulls basketball games - will be packed with products and systems, business-building applications and technologies that are shaping the future of digital graphic communications. In addition, Xerox will demonstrate to graphic arts professionals how they can profit from the transformation that's expanding printing beyond a manufacturing industry that puts images on paper into a digital, knowledge-based industry that publishes content in whatever form is required. "Over the past decade, Xerox has established itself as the digital leader in the graphic arts market. We're focused on bringing new value to commercial print customers through digital technology and processes that create new profit opportunities,'' said Tom Dolan, president, Xerox Global Solutions Group. "While competitors are just beginning to enter the digital world, Xerox will stay ahead with the most valuable solutions for the high-end printing market, which is primarily digital, focused on personalization, integrated with the Web, and bursting with color.'' Xerox President and Chief Operating Officer Anne Mulcahy will kick off Print 01 on Sept. 6 with a state of the industry presentation, delivered in conjunction with leading industry experts. Mulcahy and others will discuss major trends and technologies affecting the graphic-arts industry, new research developed by the Rochester Institute of Technology, and real-world experiences from a commercial print company. The hour-long presentation begins at 8:30 a.m. At its 48,000-square-foot interactive showroom, Xerox will reveal the breakthrough technology underpinning its next-generation FutureColor press. The company will also demonstrate the advantages of its industry-leading DocuColor 2000 Series digital color presses, which offer similar capabilities to Heidelberg's NexPress machine but at a significantly lower cost. In addition, Xerox will feature its DocuColor DI family of digital offset presses, the DocuColor 12 and DocuColor 40, seven of its DocuTech and DocuPrint products, and Phaser network color printers. The exhibit will spotlight specific business-building applications, such as books on demand, direct mail and marketing literature. Xerox will demonstrate solutions and services that bring added value to customers across a wide range of graphic arts segments, including commercial printing, quick printing, creative services, on-demand book publishing, and service bureaus. Held every four years, Print 01 is this year's largest graphic-arts industry event and is expected to draw 90,000 graphic design, digital pre-press, printing and publishing professionals to Chicago's McCormick Place. Xerox will be exhibiting in the north hall, at booth No. 8805.
