printCafe and httprint Face Off, Seminar Set to Move eCommerce Debate On

EUROPE, July 11, 2001 - Repeating their presence at Total Publishing last year, managing directors of two of the leading eCommerce solution providers to the industry are taking part in a debate on the subject of eCommerce within the print procurement and management arenas. Barry Hibbert of httprint joins Robert Berkeley of PrintCafe on the panel for the seminar that takes place on the second day of the exhibition in the Publishing Production Theatre at 11.00 a.m. For both companies, Total Publishing 2000 marked UK debuts, and Barry Hibbert is keen to demonstrate how attitudes and opinions have changed. He says: "Twelve months ago, there were a lot more players in the market and the panel at that time advised the audience that there would be consolidation, that those with the most viable proposition would succeed and that companies should choose the solution that best suited their needs. "We have clearly been proved right and it is now time to move the debate forward to discuss when and how we can best bring eCommerce solutions to businesses looking to maximise efficiencies through web-enablement and to work with them to strengthen their relationships with their own customers." Completing the panel is Sean Smyth of PIRA, whose recent study entitled, The Impact of eCommerce on the Print and Publishing Industry, states that eCommerce is increasingly important within the marketplace and is set to grow. Its main use will be integration into the business and production processes, smoothing administration and speeding up accurate information flows. Places in the Publishing Production Theatre are free, although seats are available on a first come first served basis.
