Datalogics Teams with NexPress to Provide Exceptional Variable Data Print Solution

Press release from the issuing company

Chicago, IL, July 11, 2001 - Datalogics and NexPress Solutions LLC today announced that they will work together to provide a quality variable data print solution for the digital print market that will be included with future shipments of the NexPress 2100 digital production color press. Datalogics, a leading provider of high-end publishing applications with over 30 years of experience, has developed an easy to use, flexible personalized communications application, DL Formatter. With the DL Formatter application, Datalogics offers an excellent solution for creating customized communications. Whether users desire simple personalized output, something more complex that includes charts and graphs, or web applications for online personalization, DL Formatter provides complete, flexible solutions for all variable print needs. Over the past few years, the variable print market has grown rapidly as companies seek more effective ways to communicate with customers and prospects. Personalized communications provide a great way to target messages directly to recipients, expanding the potential and reach of investment dollars. Recognizing the potential in this market, Datalogics and NexPress will work together to provide an optimal solution for creating and delivering 1-to-1 communications. Datalogics expertise in composition technology, along with NexPress’ strength in digital color production, provides a complimentary mix for creating an outstanding solution for customers. The coupling of a high-speed composition engine with a reliable digital press, make creating 1-to-1 marketing applications a reality. With DL Formatter’s easy to use interface within standard desktop publishing applications, users are able to create communications where both text and images change in every document. Because of DL Formatter’s ability to flow content and create charts and graphics on-the-fly, companies can now produce not only variable letters, but also custom catalogues, financial statements and brochures designed for a specific consumer. To provide further flexibility, DL Formatter can also be used to create 1-to-1 web applications for personalized content online and taking content from XML to PDF. Whether targeting a 1-to-1 Web application or personalized communications for print or electronic delivery, DL Formatter is the optimal solution. DL Formatter rapidly merges the variable data with the template in either interactive or batch modes and offers users a selection of output options. In addition to supporting the generation of PostScript and PDF output, DL Formatter will be creating PPML/VDX to feed the NexStation front end. This new emerging standard offers a streamlined approach for delivering variable data to a printer by using the PPML mark-up specifications and PDF. With the NexPress 2100 and Datalogics technology, users will be able to create personalized, quality output in no time at all. “Datalogics is thrilled to be working with NexPress to provide this exceptional solution to the variable print market,” said Jim McNeill, President, Datalogics. “NexPress will be making specific announcements and demonstrations in the near future on the variable data application solutions that will be bundled with the NexPress 2100 digital production color press,” said Venkat Purushotham, President and Chief Executive Officer, NexPress Solutions LLC. “We are excited to be working with Datalogics, with whom we share a common vision with the direction and opportunities in the relationship marketing arena. The opportunity to work with a company such as Datalogics to provide a solution which leverages high-production throughput capabilities, high reliability and a commitment to open standards was a natural fit for us.”
