Bowne Completes Sale of Commercial Printing Operations in Montreal

NEW YORK, TORONTO & MONTREAL--July 9, 2001--Bowne & Co., Inc., the world's largest financial printer and a leader in document and information management, today announced the completion of the sale of its commercial printing operations in Montreal, Que., Canada to an existing management group. The intent to sell these operations was originally announced on March 15. Terms were not disclosed. The financial printing services segment of the Montreal operations continue to be owned and managed by Bowne of Canada, Ltd. The newly-created commercial printing company, Integria, will provide Bowne of Canada with print manufacturing services on an exclusive basis. Jeff Chipman, president of Bowne's Canadian region said, "Our colleagues at Integria know the demanding requirements of the financial transaction market and our long-term services agreement with Integria is designed to fully meet the needs of our customers. Bowne's Montreal-based financial sales, typesetting and customer service personnel will soon relocate to new downtown offices within walking distance of the Montreal legal and financial community.''
