July Print Buyer Pulse: Confidence Up For Second Month

Press release from the issuing company

July 5, 2001 (WhatTheyThink.com - Charts available at WhatTheyThink.com) - Overall, confidence jumped 6% from June with 39% of print buyers saying they expect to spend more in the coming six months on print services. 10% said they would spend less and a majority (51%) said their spending would remain the same. Buyers predicting a saying they did not expect a change is the lowest since this survey’s inception. This indicates many predicting no change in the past are moving to a more confident position and expecting to increase their print spending. BY INDUSTRY SEGMENT Ad agencies, typically the key indicator in our monthly report, rose 6% from June with half (50%) of these buyers predicting an increase in spending. The confidence level jumped after holding steady at 44% in May and June. BY AMOUNT SPENT This month, mid sized buyers (spending of $50,000 to $500,000) of print services had a increase of 6% in their confidence level bouncing back to 35% after dropping 6% in June. Top end print buyers and lower volume buyers also showed gains in confidence. Large buyers (spending over $500,000) showed nice strength with an all time high of 48% predicting an increase in spending. Smaller buyers of print services (spending under $25,000) also jumped significantly from June. In June, only 28% of these buyers predicted a spending increase. In July, the number went up 5% to 33%.
