Imation Announces New Proofing Software for Epson Stylus Pro 10000

Press release from the issuing company

OAKDALE, Minn.--June 18, 2001-- Imation Corp. today announced the availability of Imation Matchprint(TM) Color RIP software for the new Epson Stylus Pro 10000, a large format inkjet printer. The combination of Imation Matchprint Color RIP software and media, together with the new printer, gives customers color-accurate output that simulates trusted Matchprint(TM) Digital Analog Halftone Proofs. "Our new Matchprint Color RIP software for the Epson 10000 is part of our commitment to make the Matchprint Inkjet system compatible with the best printers on the market,'' said Robert Pipe, product manager, Imation Color Technologies. "When you add Imation's software and media to the new generation of inkjet printers, you get cost-effective proofs that demonstrate a significant improvement in color accuracy over other RIPs.'' The Matchprint Inkjet System The Matchprint Inkjet system is comprised of Imation Matchprint Color RIP software, Matchprint Inkjet proofing media and an Imation-qualified printer. Current printers supported by the Matchprint Inkjet system include the Epson Stylus Pro 10000, 9000, 7000, and 5000, as well as the Hewlett Packard DesignJet 5000, HP DesignJet 2500, HP DesignJet 2000, and the Canon BJC 8500. Imation Matchprint Color RIP software A1/A0 version 2.1 for the Epson Stylus Pro 10000 is available for purchase through Imation's graphic arts authorized dealers. Current users of Matchprint Color RIP software may download a software upgrade from www.imation.com/downloads. In response to customer demand, Matchprint Color RIP software includes TIFF-IT and PDF/X file format compatibility. This feature saves users valuable time by eliminating file-conversions prior to output. Imation's Color Fidelity Module(TM) (CFM)--a "smart'' color conversion module that accurately preserves the black channel in CMYK to RGB conversions is included to provide better color transfer. The software also includes eight Imation Matchprint color target profiles, assuring the production of accurate and consistent color proofs that simulate the most popular printing standards. Proofing requirements vary at different stages of the workflow and according to the necessary imaging integrity, costs and level of risk associated with the specific print project. The Imation Matchprint Color RIP software, which is easily integrated into existing workflow, enables printers to expand their use of large-format proofers from imposition to a broader range of color-critical applications. The software makes it possible to produce color proofs accurate to the Matchprint proofing standard earlier in the workflow, minimizing expensive color rework and reducing production time.
