ST. PAUL, MN — June 13, 2001 — Merrill Corporation (www.merrillcorp.com), a global diversified communications and document services provider, today announced that its Document Management Services (DMS) business has been awarded a five-year contract by Morrison & Foerster LLP to provide on-site document management, mail, fax and office supply services for 11 of its domestic offices. According to the terms of the agreement, Merrill Corporation will provide the necessary technology, equipment and professionally-trained personnel to handle analog and digital document flows into and out of the firm's offices in Century City, Calif., Denver, Los Angeles, New York, Northern Virginia, Orange County, Calif., Sacramento, Calif., San Diego, San Francisco, Walnut Creek, Calif., and Washington, D.C. Morrison & Foerster is one of the largest international law firms with more than 1,000 lawyers in 18 offices worldwide. "We were impressed by Merrill's understanding of the culture of law firms, their willingness to be flexible in providing the outsourced services we require, and their ability to deliver technology solutions on a cost-efficient basis," said Jennifer Herman, Los Angeles office administrator for San Francisco-based Morrison & Foerster. "In the end, we selected Merrill for this important responsibility because they demonstrated the ability to blend both customer support and technology competence to create an innovative offering unmatched by any competitor." According to Herman, Merrill will begin phasing in services over a period of the next several months, with all offices being fully equipped and staffed with Merrill employees by September. "This substantial contract clearly demonstrates the quality of our facilities management team and the strength of our support services," said Al McNee, president of Merrill's Document Management Services. "Our ability to combine technology with customer service delivery has made us a leader in document management services in the legal industry. We look forward to sharing these skills in a long and successful partnership with the management at Morrison & Foerster." The announcement of the contract comes just five months after Merrill announced that it had been awarded a five-year contract by Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, L.L.P., another major international law firm.
