MetalFX Announces 2008 Design and Printing Competition

West Chester , OH ; (September 21, 2008) -MetalFX Technology-a Ciba Specialty Chemicals Corporation subsidiary-has announced its 2008 design competition based upon use of its popular MetalFX software.  Printers, graphic designers, advertising agencies and schools employing the process in a commercial product during 2008 are eligible to submit their designs and final printed products for consideration.  Producers of the winning design, to be selected from among worldwide submissions, will receive an engraved award and may use the official MetalFX award logo on their stationery, promotional material, and websites as an indication of their skillful use of the MetalFX technology.  In addition, MetalFX will promote the winning design throughout the worldwide design and printing communities.  Winners will be selected in four categories:

- Printers
- Prepress Providers
- Design Agencies
- Educational Institutions

Announcing the competition, MetalFX Vice President-Americas Mark Geeves commented: "Every year, graphic designers and printers find new and innovative ways to capitalize on the unique metallic printing characteristics of the MetalFX process.  Previous MetalFX competitions have been heartily received by designers and printers, many of whom use MetalFX to showcase their abilities and promote their capabilities."

MetalFX, a recent Ciba Corporation acquisition, is a universal process and spot metallic color system that allows millions of metallic colors to be printed, all by adding only the one base silver ink to the usual CMYK mix.  Ciba Specialty brings more than 40 years of experience in color matching to the worldwide graphic arts, paints, plastics, fiber and ceramic industries.
