Prolatus To Showcase Patent-Pending Proof MarkUp Process at Print 01

Press release from the issuing company

July 24, 2001 - MINNEAPOLIS -- Prolatus will add a patent- pending proof mark-up process and a number of other developments to its Catalyst Technology-based suite of workflow solutions at the upcoming PRINT 01 and Seybold San Francisco tradeshows. Company President Don Atkinson says the new mark-up solution will significantly change the traditional hard copy proof mark-up process, saying that the development “adds some needed technology to a process that hasn't changed for years. Proofs are the vehicle of visual communication in the Graphic Arts, and marking up a hard copy proof is still the way most in the graphic arts communicate edits and change preferences.” This means that, in the traditional proofing environment, mark-up comments travel only as fast as the hard proof travels. As a result, it often takes 24 hours or more for a proof, with comments, to reach the person that can actually begin production of the needed changes. *Instant Exchange of Hard Copy Proof Information* In contrast, Prolatus’ technology enables those who rely on hard copy proofs to communicate changes the way they always have, while permitting immediate exchange of the information with other proofing round participants. “The combination of our Catalyst and mark-up solutions enables proofing rounds to happen in minutes, instead of hours or, more frequently, days," Atkinson says. The mark up tool and additional new features will be demonstrated at Prolatus' exhibits at both PRINT 01 (booth #6860) and Seybold San Francisco (booth #2122).
