Ralph Box and Others Honored by R&E Council

White Stone, VA, June 2001—The Research and Engineering Council of the Graphic Arts Industry honored Ralph F. Box, Jr., printing industry veteran and recently retired senior vice president, sales, of Müller Martini, at its recent annual meeting in Baltimore, Maryland. Box was named the 2001 recipient of the R&E Council John L. Kronenberg Industry Leadership Award. Presented annually, the Kronenberg Award denotes long and dedicated service to both the R&E Council and the graphic arts industry. Ralph F. Box, Jr., served Muller Martini for more than 30 years. A graduate of the University of Scranton, Box is a member of the Craftsmen’s Club, the Book Manufacturers Institute Cased-In Club, the Nonpareil Society of the R&E Council, the Web Offset Society of the Printing Industry of America, and the GATF Society of Fellows. Box chaired six and has attended the last 29 R&E Council Bindery, Finishing and Distribution seminars. Also honored at the meeting were C. Harold Gaffin, Laura Gale, Ronald L. Mihills, and Michael J. Winn, all of whom were inducted into the Nonpareil Society of the Council. All are members of the R&E Executive Committee and have been active in Council affairs for many years. Gaffin, who was with Kodak for many years, recently retired from the Rochester Institute of Technology, were he was Director of the School of Printing Management & Sciences. Gale is Senior Vice President of Technology for priNexus. Mihills, who served DuPont in numerous capacities before retiring, is Managing Director of the R&E Council. Winn is Senior Vice President of the R. R. Donnelley & Sons Northeastern Division. Members of the Nonpareil Society select new members annually, based upon their contributions to the R&E Council. An honorary membership in the R&E Council was presented to Werner Rebsamen, recently retired professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology. In announcing the awards, R&E Council Managing Director Ronald L. Mihills said: "The Council is pleased to name Ralph Box, a leader in the graphic arts industry, as the 2001 Kronenberg Award recipient. He joins only eleven other executives who have been honored for their unfailing dedication to both the industry and the Council."
